X-3 Viper - Fighter Combat Arena

Description
INTRODUCTION

Every so often an engineer will get that itch, drive, or fever when working on a build. Everything just clicks and you are laser focused on your vision. This was one such time for me. The X-3 Viper was built for the Fighter Combat Arena (FCA) private event held for a select group of friends. There are rules and restrictions to follow when creating an entry into the event. As such there are a few design choices made to comply with the rules but overall it all fit nicely together.

The Viper uses short range GM44 - Pico sidewinder missiles. A design used for interception but still powerful enough to be used against larger ships. In testing three of these were capable of cutting a frigate of mine completely in half! I have never done PMWs before so I am quite pleased with the results of my first missile build. We will see if they are effective or not in the upcoming competition.

All in all I think this fighter is one of my favorite as far as build quality goes, but only in the heat of battle will it prove to be a success or a failure.

HELPFUL TIPS:

This ship uses WHAM and LAMP scripts for the custom missiles. It is strongly recommended that you learn these script commands to operate the missiles. All relevant controls are listed in the ship toolbar. These scripts are already loaded onto the blocks so you do not need to be subscribed to the author's posts but I highly recommend doing so as the author (Whiplash) is a genius and deserves all the praise.

Missile Commands:
* Lock_ON (Must be locked on to target before selecting)
* Lock_Off (Forgets target)
* Lock_Switch (Re-selects target)
* Fire (Pew Pew Boom)

The missiles are set to fire one at a time once a lock has been achieved. Status for lock on and missiles are displayed in the cockpit screens.

I do a little bit of photoshop using the Blue Screen world on my workshop. You can remove the blue screen using a photo editor. Paste in a background with some visual elements and done.

Amazing build I love the looks and the functions, is packed with a ton of fire power for sure.

I do have to ask how did you manage to get that thumbnail picture? Is amazing especially with the missile flying.

As well what skybox is that? Stunning view
