Description
Optimized Sounds for Barotrauma
Recommended for low-end PCs with limited resources. On good PC, you won't notice the difference. Please read installation instructions carefully.

📌 Description
This mod compresses original game sounds without quality loss, reducing size from 508 MB to 162 MB (saving 342 MB). Through optimization, the game may theoretically use 342 MB less RAM when playing all in-game sounds.

✨ Features
✔ Preserved sound quality - difference is barely noticeable (Game has ~1100 sounds, report any defects)
✔ Full vanilla gameplay compatibility
✔ No conflicts with other mods

⚡ Effects
  • Zero FPS impact
  • Replaced harsh UI_labelSelect.ogg sound with softer Half Life 2 sound (main menu buttons - delete this file before installation if unwanted: "More Optimize Vanilla Sound\Content\Sounds\UI")
  • Removed constant oxygen generator and fan noises (Delete 2 files before installation to keep noises: "More Optimize Vanilla Sound\Content\Items\OxygenGenerator")

📥 Installation
1. Subscribe to the mod via Steam Workshop
2. Navigate to mod folder:
steamapps\workshop\content\602960\3455325479
3. Replace "Content" folder in game root directory (confirm overwrite)
4. Launch the game

Ironically by installing this, it cant be that you'll use more files in the game, since youre replacing them in the game root folder.
Maybe you were referring to the files that remained on my end after testing how the game would behave after replacing the files, they are not used in the game in any way

And I didnt mention it anywhere cpu usage

ironically by installing this, you are installing more files onto your computer so this is just unnecessary. and sound effects barely take up that much cpu usage
