Description
Milk and Wool

Description
A series of patches to ensure that all animals that could feasibly be milked or sheared can be, increasing the options for milk and wool!

Animals to which milkability is added use the standard, generic milk. Animals to which shearability is added are each given their own wool type.

Animals which would be harder to milk (those without a nice udder) give less milk than their similarly-sized counterparts, for both "realism" and balance.

Patches for animal mods included!

Why?

I was upset that I couldn't shear wool from my woolly mammoths, or milk my woolly rhinoceroses.

Currently Supported Animals

Milk and wool format: item/interval (amount per day)

Changes are in bold. Animals which produce neither milk nor wool are omitted from the tables.

Big thanks to Bo (BOBACONLIVES!) for his mod Bo's Milkable Animals (https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=841092540), which I used to learn how to do XML patching in RimWorld and as a reference for some milk values.

Another big thanks to Ferny, Harmonea, and all the helpful members of the Fernworld Discord server for helping me troubleshoot LoadFolders and whatnot.

Anyway thank you for the mod, it felt weird that the muffalo which was genetically engineered to be the perfect livestock wasn't that good of a farm animal other than providing some wool

For the dog thing, barring a configurable option, I think it might be best to leave milking and shearing purely to animals that are meant to be in a pen for consistency, otherwise as you said people would get annoyed from constantly milking and shearing house pets especially in places like the dining room or bedrooms which would be jarring as there isn't an off switch

FINALLY, walrus milk, aka wilk

I'd suggest having the mammals only included for the sake of being funny or because on rare occasion might be the most practical source available be disabled by default, so the option is there, but it also wouldn't waste time for the pawns of most users

@Maya
I could look into that. I'm generally not a huge fan of needing to configure things like that myself, and I usually just prefer to download or not download an add-on. One common fix for issues in Rimworld is to delete the config folder, so having less in there can be nice. I'll consider making it configurable, though.
Maya 15 Jul @ 8:34am
I take it you're not able to make the mod configurable as I had suggested then?
LordBeef21  [author] 14 Jul @ 10:26pm
Maybe, if there's enough demand, I'll make a "Milk Everything" add-on.

@Hatoful Pengu

Wool for goats and rabbits:
I'd need there to be those rabbits and goats in the game, I think.

Dog milk:
I've thought about this. The issue with adding milk to a lot of things is that there isn't an "off" switch for milking. I don't want situations where people (including myself) would get annoyed at their colonists constantly milking dogs and shearing rabbits. I may be pushing it with Rhino milk as is, haha.
Hatoful Pengu 13 Jul @ 12:04pm
would you ever consider adding wool for goats and rabbits? historically, cashmere and mohair came from certain breeds of goat, while angora wool comes from the angora rabbit. as well, i see people have already been joking about it, but people have actually historically used milk and wool from dogs, tho the best option for the latter apparently comes from cold-adapted dogs with undercoats (so huskies in vanilla).
