So, it is like a threshold. The higher the number, means it takes more time/battles/wtv to get bloody. The lower the number, the opposite.

So, from my tests, 999999 is the highest I could make it work. But feel free to play around yourself.

What exactly does the number do? I'm editing it and put it at 50000 but I have genuinely no idea what it means, just that its considerably lower than yours.

That would be possible, but then people would want different versions that would fit better to their tastes, and that would clutter the workshop. You can open your mod and edit it (use 7z or winrar), then just go to the .xml file and edit the numbers in there.
