Anti-Lag CRAM re-meshing

Description
I found out my CRAM pellets were causing too much lag, so this mod re-meshes them into cubes instead to prevent lag. Unfortunately I'm bad at modding and so they all have the same texture. You may have to manually repaint them to differentiate between them.

After some time I remembered there was an in-game mod menu and so I made my own mod, I made some basic models that massively cuts down on vertices and still kinda retains the original shape, it's not super clear but you can still colour them so it's not a huge issue, I don't know how to make new textures but if someone does feel free to take my models and put new textures on, they still use the normal CRAM textures so they look very strange

It's been very long since I made this or any other FTD mods so I may not remember clearly.
However, FTD does have its own built-in mod editor. I think I just created a new mod there and in some section like mesh replacements I made a new mesh replacement thing to replace CRAM pellets. FTD also has a modding guide that may help.
Apologies, I don't remember clearly, hope this helps.

How did you make this mod? I'm not much of a modder either but I've made a couple for other games and I want to try and make a simple CRAM mesh mod, rather than just replacing them with a simple mesh I'd prefer to just make them extremely simple versions of their current selves so you don't need to paint them and can see CRAM parts on other vehicles, I see you see you have texture replacements and mesh replacements, but where did you find the actual file you are replacing it with? I've been looking for a while now and have found the object file folder for CRAMs though i don't have anything to open them with and edit (only view) and the mesh and texture files are just references to other files I can't seem to find

This mod is exactly the thing I was looking for, I tried to do it myself but did not have much luck but Now I can run my 17,000 part cram turrets without completely tanking my FPS

Apologies this is literally my first mod so I have no idea how to do that. (I tried but I just turned everything to wood)
Like I said in the description perhaps the best idea is to manually repaint them, hope this helps.

If you can change textures at all I think it'd be okay to have a solid color PNG with the first letter of the block on it. Like hardener is solid blue with H and explosive is E and stuff like that.

If you can pull that off, any chance you can do that with the plasma parts too, specifically the generators? Their models are crazy complicated and I believe have a similar problem.
