rp_beta17 (HL2 Beta Map)

Description
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 1000 SUBSCRIBERS! And the awards, too!

Created by Sasanek.
Commissioned but unpaid by Stickey.

Welcome to City 17.

This is a HL2 Beta-styled map, mostly for roleplay. I hope you'll have a great time playing and exploring it!
The map is split into four sections: Town Square (+ Train), Residential, Industrial and Canal. It features a town hall with plenty of rooms, a Combine base, a lot of interiors with partial furniture (so you have freedom to decorate it) and basements. There's also a whole underground sewage system connecting the map.

Have fun!
Feel free to use it for your server (unless you're Stickey), or videos/stuff. Would be very nice if you'd linked it!
Do not ask me for editing the map for your server.

Add me to friends and DM me if you want to access the VMF file. I will not work on it anymore.

And here's a message for Stickey, the dude who commissioned the map, but refused to pay me:
F--k you dude, I spent a very long time on this map but you decided to not pay me. At least I got to create a good-looking map, and at least it's all mine now.
I don't think your "memory problems" are real. I kept reminding you to pay me, and every time you say "I'll pay once I have the chance" then "I'll be able to pay soon", for months. Well, I don't want your money no more. And to be honest, I really like the map I created, so I rather take full ownership of it, rather than nerfing it for the public release.
Do not accept any commissions or from this scammer, unless you want to not get paid s--t!

Be aware of him. By the way, here's steam profile: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/profiles/76561199117990923

oh okay so it's all about exclusive access to the map, so it was never meant to be on workshop, got it

Responding to the comment below, by "ownership" I mean having the full freedom to publish it, and with no constraints (like not cutting anything out, no payment = no exclusive content), and not being limited by the original requirements - Stickey said he wants a moving train illusion as the spawn point, for the starting cutscene in his server. However, because he either has dementia, or is just a scammer, this was scrapped. The train you have a chance to spawn in is actually the repurposed train, but stationary.

I don't understand this “commission” thing, what's the point?
I can imagine a situation where I really want some addon and I pay someone to create it, but what does “ownership” mean?

Good size and scale, and very respectable filesize for the scope of the map thanks to clever reliance on base HL2 assets -- but I will say that a good bit of this map is overlit (especially on the interiors).

Some areas are also so spacious that even with very heavy propping they still feel like they have too much empty space. It's also lacking support for stuff like Stormfox 2, which is kind of a bummer.

Could defo be reworked into something bigger/greater for anyone dedicated to adding more, but I don't recommend this for SeriousRP. Can't say I blame the author for stopping work on it, though; f--k Stickey for stiffing you on your payment.

You should make more HL2 Beta-styled maps in the future. I think you could really make some awesome stuff.

Bro has the audacity to commission someone for a map and not pay them. I am fr praying on their down fall:endoskull:. Other than that, cool map!
