Description
Antonio Meucci was the first proper battleship designed post-Coup of Reform in 1932. After two redesigns, she was approved, and laid down in 1935. In 1938, she would be completed, and would serve predominantly in the Pacific. In 1942, she sank the Japanese aircraft carrier Taiyō. Her 15 inch guns fired a full broadside which detonated the spare munitions aboard the ship. She is the only Italian battleship to have sank an aircraft carrier during the war.
