Description
The 8800 Series (8800形) is a tram vehicle operated by Toei on the Toden-Arakawa Line.

Manufactured between 2009 and 2010, the 8800 series was introduced to eliminate 7500 series vehicles dating back to the 1960s. Entering service shortly after the 9000 series, the two types together constituted Toei’s plan of revitalizing the Arakawa Line. The final design was selected by public vote, based on the concept of a smart, modern tramcar, in contrast to the retro 9000 series. The technical specifications of the 8800 series are very similar to other Arakawa line vehicles constructed after 1990, while undercarriage equipment was standardized with the 9000 series to reduce production costs. A total of 10 cars were manufactured by Alna car, of which 5 are painted rose red, 2 each for violet and orange, and a single car in yellow. For a period after their introduction, the 8800 series operated a fixed schedule independent of other types, but are currently operated in common with the rest of fleet.
