Highly Detailed Vanilla No Mod Australian Shunter with Working Couplers
Title: New South Wales 50 Class Diesel Shunter (5u, NO MODS)

History:
The 50/51 Class are shunters built in 1967 (50) and 1968 (51) by Lawson at their workshops in Bathurst.
The 50 is a 2-axle rail tractor not meant for any serious work and very small shunting.
While the 51 is a 3-axle shunter sometimes used for branchline or small freight, though often did shunting.
A total of 36 were built (10 50 Classes built, and 26 51 Classes built).
They first entered service in late 1967 with the first 5001 doing a surprising run under it's own power from Bathurst to Sydney to the point same thing happened with 5101 a year later in 1968.
The 50/51 Classes operated well and to the point were allowed very limited passenger service.
By 26th January 1988 one 51 Class, 5105, was named James Cook, with 5107 being named Prince of Wales.
In early 1989, the 50 Classes were all transferred to operated by the very recently formed CityRail, and all the 51 Classes would be operated by Freight Rail (FreightCorp), in 1 Febuary 2002 all 51 Classes were to be transferred to Pacific National.
By 2006 there were plans by CityRail to withdraw the 50 Class from shunting duties and preserve 4 of the 50 Classes (these include, 5001, 5003, 5008, 5009), the rest would be cut up for scrap or used as spare parts.
And by 2010 Pacific National had plans to retire 3 51 Classes and be used as spare parts whilst another 5 (if successful) were given life extensions with help from Lawson.
However by 2019 all but the 5 51 Classes (being 5101, 5105, 5114, 5120) were retired and preserved 5 for Transport Heritage NSW (being 5102, 5107, 5110, 5115, 5126).

The liveries the 50/51 classes had
50 Classes started out in an all Indian Red with some yellow stripes (from 1967 to 1982) and then had the Candy livery (from 1982 to retirement) which some wore until retirement.

51 Classes also started out in an all Indian Red with some yellow stripes (from 1968 to 1982) and had the Candy livery (from 1982 to 1994) and then had the FreightCorp blue with yellow lining (from 1994 until 2010 for some locomotives) as from 2007 the 51s starting having the Pacific National liveries of which 5 still operating with Pacific National have.

As of 2025 4 50 Classes and 10 51 Classes are still around.

The locomotive only fits on 5u railways, so please use any 5u tile.
Plus a like and a favourite would be nice, to boost this thing up!!

And as always....
You can use it, and paint it to your liking, but if you want to upload your repainted (or slightly modified) version to the workshop, credit me, and put the original version in your description, thanks mate!
