RO CFR Desiro 96

The CFR 96 series is a commuter multiple unit from the Desiro Classic vehicle concept developed by Siemens Mobility (formerly Siemens Transportation Systems). The operator is CFR Călători (SNTFC). The order was placed with Siemens Mobility in April 2002, with part of the production taking place at their plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen. Commissioning took place at the test centre in Wegberg-Wildenrath. The first train was handed over to SNTFC in Uerdingen on 19 December 2002 and just over half of the 120 two-car multiple units were produced locally in Romania, with the last being delivered in 2007. Technically, the trains are almost identical to the DB version of the 642 series.
The multiple units run around Bucharest and between the cities of Arad, Oradea and Cluj. They are also used on various local transport routes.

Note: This vehicle was deliberately implemented on a larger scale for the sides (e.g. 16px) – for those who like more detail and realism. I like to mod against the trend, because diversity is just as important to NIMBY as route planning 🙂.
