Description

King Frederic the First built his magnificent castle on a mighty hill. He did not heed the warnings of his court ....

A collaboration map by Obscura and hgbf

2500 structures
650 props

King Frederic the First was dissatisfied. Dissatisfied with his small castle. He needed something better, more beautiful, bigger.
So he set off on a journey through the beautiful lands. He saw the puny castles of other kings and laughed. No, that was out of the question for him.

He found an untouched, beautiful hill behind a forest. Wonderful, just what he had been looking for.
So his subjects would have plenty to do over the next few years. After all, his castle was to become the most beautiful and largest in the whole country.
His subjects reported strange noises from time to time. Oh, what did they know. They just wanted to avoid work.
Stone by stone, the magnificent castle grew and Frederic was proud of his work.

He soon moved in with his entire court and it was a dream.
The court was something very special. Plants, whose seeds came from all over the world, shone in all colors. King Frederic loved to stroll along the walls of his garden. But what was that? One day he discovered a crack in the wall. Who had not worked properly here? He immediately sent for the worker responsible. Who of course denied that it was his work.
He wouldn't be King Frederic if he didn't immediately lock the worker in one of his cells in the basement. There were still enough free.

A bright new day greeted the king. Time to check on his flowers from the Middle East.

In the castle, however, there was a commotion among the staff. Margarit saw it coming. But the king wouldn't listen to her. Years ago, when she advised him not to build a castle here. It is the burial mound of the last giants who ruled here thousands of years ago. Building a castle here can only end in disaster. But King Frederic dismissed it as ridiculous superstition. And now ....

King Frederic enjoyed the garden and the flowers. How beautiful it all was. Every now and then he heard the cries of the imprisoned worker, but that didn't bother him much.

But what was that on the path? Loose stones? And what is that? Cracks in the walls again?

Suddenly he heard a deep rumble. From deep below the castle. What was that? A tremor went through the earth and the stonework until a huge, bony hand reached for one of his castle towers.
King Frederik was horrified. No. It couldn't be. That was just superstition. This wasn't really the burial mound of the last giants? Who were now rising from their graves?

Special thanks to hgbf, always a pleasure to make maps with him.
Also thanks to the toad soup enjoyers.
