“I will be back” is a small mod to enrich the kidnapped system in Rimworld.
In Vanilla, having a colonist kidnapped is almost as bad as being dead.
Now “I will be back” gives your kidnapped colonists the chance to return to the colony on his own.

The kidnapped colonist will undergo a number of skill determinations, and if successful, he will return on his own at a later date.
Depending on the determination, there will also be different ways to return, and the colonist will bring back a number of different supplies.
All colonists in the colony will also be happy for a few days because of the successful return of the kidnapped colonist.

Approximately how long does it take for a colonist to return after being captured?
Quickly, immediately, or a few years later (in any case, if the determinations is successful, the colonist will come back).

Can a missing caravan come back?
No. Only kidnapped colonist come back.

Under what conditions can my colonists return?
Colonists can return if any of the following conditions are met

The colonist can Skip or long-distance Skip.
Passes the Melee test.
Passes the Intellectual test.
Passes the Mining test.
Passes the Social test.

@Darian Stephens - From personal experience, I can confirm that yes, the mod can bring back someone who was kidnapped before the mod was added.

Thank you for this mod! I thought my run was over when my 'main character' got kidnapped during a raid. I downloaded your mod, and a few days later, my guy came back after convincing a guard to let him go (and bringing the guard with him back to my colony).

Just one piece of advice: The text of the notification was poorly formatted with some typos. If this could be improved, it would make the mod even better.

Will this mod work if a colonist was kidnapped before it was added, or will it only count future kidnappings?
If so, would devmode spawning a captured colonist and re-recruiting them, then devmode kidnapping them make it work?

@Dom it would be nice if the english dialogue got cleaned up a bit. the translated text really makes the letter and mood buff stand out too much

Can't you expand this mod to count any non mising, not dead colonist as kidnaped? or make the mod work for all ocassions? :dv_nuclear::steamthumbsup:

depending on some other stats, the colonist should have a tiny chance to be desensitized upon their return, having undergone probably a torturous journey.

Just a funny idea, gave me doomguy/terminator vibes.

Does the mining check cause them to burrow out of the ground like flesh beasts? That would be kinda funny. I know spoilers and all but I'd like to see the different ways they can come back before using the mod.

Yeah I was also curious with Odyssey would they still return to the colony even if it moved and flew in a gravship to say... the other side of the planet? Logically they should have no way of knowing where everyone went.
