SHIELDWALL CONTINUATION
Thrones reforged is a continuation of the amazing work done by the SHIELDWALL team who built such an amazing mod for the game that we have all been enjoying for quite some time now and without that work we could not have built on-top of it to make reforged.

OUR GOAL
We believe thrones of Britannia is an underrated game with huge potential and would want to put a lot of work into it to get some love and bring new people to the game to enjoy it for years to come. the goal is to build upon the top notch work of the shieldwall team and use it as a solid base for which to build this mod on.

Shieldwall Overhaul

This is an early release for the mod and should not be considered anywhere near the finished project. i am realsing this now in hopes of getting good feedback for the future development. this is a passion project for me but i cannot work on it every day. updates will take time



Brought over from SHIELDWALL
  • Completely Redone Unit Rosters for every single culture.
  • Overhauled military tech tree in the style of Shogun 2
  • Four fully fleshed out population mechanics for Peasants, Nobles, Foreigners and Clergy.
  • Completely redone battle balance with an emphasis on period tactics and well, the shieldwall.
  • Food storage system
  • Completely redone traits, each with their own dilemma to allow more player choice developing their characters.
  • Wiped out building effects and rebalanced them.
  • Redone effects for skills and character attributes.
  • pappaBear's amazing historical landmarks and wonders flavour events.
  • Dozens of new events, with more being added every week or two.
Reforged Changes
  • 55 Playable factions (more work to be done to these to bring them up to shield-wall standard)
  • Custom faction traits for Major & Minor factions
  • Fixed UI for faction selection menu
  • Added shieldwall mechanics UI to new factions & fixed top row UI for unlocked factions
  • Classified factions as MAJOR & MINOR factions to seperate out original shieldwall factions from those that are still being worked on.


  • Fix commonly complained about issues with the game (bugs & features)
  • Small town overhauls (battle maps & garrisons)
  • New UI to match theme of the mod
  • Decrees rework & implementation for all new factions
  • Re-balance all new starts for factions added
  • Map work & battle maps
  • New faction specific missions
  • Fort Stance changes & change in battle maps for forts attacked

if anybody has the chance could you make a submod with the vanilla unit models, so that Anno Domini 878 reskin would be compatible

Campaign map AI is so stupid, they don't know what they are doing half the time, just irritating for the player to deal with more than anything. Food storage is nice but there are not enough food producing buildings, the farms that you do have - hardly produce any food.

There is a text bug for "DO NOT TRANSLATE" that appears when you upgrade archers, but the upgrade doesn't appear to do anything to their stats besides add a little bow icon next to unit card and the text bug.
Lastly minor factions are impossible to get going on hard difficulty or above, it's just end turn simulator for the first 30 turns because you can't do anything with your tiny starting gold and food.

Quite a few things need to be fixed. Archers are super op, too much ammo and damage imo. Even strong shielded units get chewed up easily. Having them stronger than Vanilla is fine but for the civs with good archers it's way too strong. The morale is a joke, why are armies a bunch of wussies that retreat at the first sign of danger? Pathetic. It's hard to get decent length battles because half the armies have retreated within a couple minutes of fighting.

Such a great mod, really challenging one to start a campaign while this mod is on

but i have some question, why there is some available unit in some faction in custom battle (maybe vanilla unit) that not appear on a campaign?

hey N3WO - will you continue to work on this great mod? am playing as Northumbria at the moment and the immersion and potential of Shieldwall is big/great, would be sad, if no new updates were done :-( big up and thanks for this great work, surely thankt too, to the older team ;-)

Mind you, I still find some things to improve here and there. With Circenn and possibly with other gaelic factions, the Legitimacy meter is stuck from the begining of the campaign in 15/30, on the debuff side,with no other way to increase it than one technology fof a civilian branch.
