Never-Ending TV and Radio Broadcast [B42]

Description
If you find this mod no longer works due to recent vanilla updates or conflicts with newer radio/TV broadcasting mods uploaded after mine, please install my latest version, which forcibly loops all channels endlessly:

This mod makes TV and radio broadcasts loop endlessly after the broadcast end date (e.g., day 9 for skill TV), allowing you to enjoy them for as long as you want. By removing the skill gain cap for TV in the sandbox settings, you can continue leveling up your skills after the cap.

This mod has no impact on performance.


Guide on How to Add to an Existing Save

This mod works as long as you use it in single-player mode. However, if you add this mod to an existing save after the broadcast end date, your TV or radio may not work as intended. Below is a step-by-step guide to restore TV/radio functionality:

Locate Your Save File:
Navigate to the following folder:

C:\Users\[your ID]\Zomboid\Saves\[your difficulty setting]\202*-**-**_**-**-**[game start date]\radio\data

Please double-check that the file you are editing is indeed the correct one. Ensure that the file's date is the most recent, or matches the save you are trying to modify.

Open the RADIO_SAVE.txt File:
Open the RADIO_SAVE.txt file using Notepad or any other text editor.

After the second line, each subsequent line contains the data for a channel in the following order: [Frequency],[Current Loop Count],[Max Loop Number],[Current Script Name],[Script Start Day],[Broadcast ID],[Broadcast Line Number]

Make the Following Edits:

1. Set DaysSinceStart to 0:

DaysSinceStart = 0

2. For Each Channel:

Change the [Current Script Name] to "main" from "none".

Change the [Script Start Day] to 0.

The edited result should look similar to the example below. (If you have subscribed to other radio mods, you may see additional channels. In that case, do not edit the lines for these new channels.):

If you mess up the edit, just delete the file, start the game, and then exit. The game will automatically create a new file for you, which you can then edit.

Alternatively, you can copy the example above and paste it directly into your RADIO_SAVE.txt file (as long as you don’t have any other radio mods). The other modifications I made above are optional, but they won’t cause any harm if applied.


Note: how to use this mod together with Voiced Radio and TVs mod:

Place this mod below Voiced Radio and TVs mod in Mod Order, so this mod overrides the other.

You can now hear voices from the TV and Radio, although not all channels are supported yet by Voiced Radio and TVs mod.

@西伯利亚酥皮烤鸭 There haven't been any conflicts between this mod and Build 42 since its release, and it's highly unlikely that there will be in the future. However, many new TV and radio mods have been released recently, and many of them are conflicting with this mod.

If you don't want to unsubscribe from your newly installed mods, you can manually edit the RADIO_SAVE.txt file in your save folder. Just be sure to carefully follow the instructions in the above, Guide on How to Add to an Existing Save.

Be very careful! If the first number in a line (e.g., "93200" in "93200,0,1000,main,0,none,-1") is different as in any of the above example, do not change the fourth string (e.g., "main" in this example) to "main". The first number and the fourth string, they should match.

Simply change the second number to "0" and the third number to "1000" in every line, and also set "DaysSinceStart = 0".

The Life and Living TV channel is no longer working. Is this a malfunction caused by the B42.3 version update of the game? If possible, please resolve it earlier. Thank you very much.

@Horhyzon You know what? Actually, editing the radio save file is a better and more precise method, especially if you're running multiple radio mods alongside this one. But editing the save file isn’t ideal for everyone, is it?

It seems like changing the file is the only thing that works. Like my TV and Radio do go back to broadcasting but after a week or so they stop like normal. What does your mod do that changing the file to 0 days doesn't?
