Goblins! Upgraded

Description

Why this mod?
As a player of Orcs and Goblins since I was young, I have often been disappointed by the simplified and "softened" designs of goblins within the Greenskins factions. The images and descriptions from the army books have always evoked vile, cruel, and cowardly creatures—but dangerous, agile, with mouths full of sharp teeth and hands ready to strangle.

So I decided to modify their appearance, retexturing in some cases and remodeling in many others to make the creatures closer to those created by Games Workshop and artists like Adrian Smith and Karl Kopinski, here it is:

What does this mod do?

1- 16 new Heads and Helmets for Goblins, diversified as much as possible across the different units. (Along with an intensive mental plan to give them teeth that don't look like they've been eating lettuce and mashed potatoes).

2- 4 new shields for Common Goblins, styled after the miniatures. 2 new shield paints for Night Goblins. Spear revision for all units with new models and retexturing, featuring stolen-looking designs for Common Goblins and damp, rusty versions for the Night Goblins due to their tunnel humidity.

3- Retexturing of most available Goblin assets, including classic checkered and border-patterned clothing for the Night Goblins.

4- New outfits for Wolf Riders, making them more steppe-like, or something similar.

5- 3 new variants and 2 new weapons for Night Goblin Big Bosses. Unfortunately, this forced me to remove the 3 most repetitive variants (the limit is 5). In return, each boss now has a unique appearance. Each new variant has its own theme:

- Brute
- Backstabber
- Squig Herder

6- A new unit: Night Goblin Spearmen, with unique unit cards in line with the rest of their kin. They can access a new scrap upgrade, Nets, which allows them to immobilize an enemy unit and slightly reduce their melee attack and defense for a few seconds.

- The unit is balanced in stats, recruitment cost, upkeep, and battlefield performance.
- They wear crimson-colored hoods to easily distinguish them during combat.

7- New unit cards for Common Goblin infantry, thematic and easily recognizable... (And pretty).

8- Banner change for the Crooked Moon tribe and a color swap to Black and Yellow for the faction, as Mork commands.

9- The "small" Squigs, Nasty Skulkers, and Skarsnik have also received retexturing.

What’s different compared to the predecessor mod?

1- First of all, this mod works again; the other one is outdated and will no longer receive updates.

2- The custom resource I was developing, which was tied to a scrap upgrade, can no longer be used since I couldn't make it work with the new tables, and it provided little value anyway.

3- Night Goblin Big Bosses no longer have my custom abilities, as they now have official ones.

4- The Common Goblin Warriors unit is no longer included since there is now an official version, though its appearance, of course, remains the same as the old mod. The same applies to the “Goblin Spearmen”, who are now proper spearmen.

5- I have slightly desaturated the skin in all textures because they appeared excessively bright.

This mod is compatible with virtually any other mod that does not modify the models and/or textures of the mentioned troops, as it is purely graphical—except for the new unit, Night Goblin Spearmen, and its Nets upgrade. It is available in both Spanish and English in separate Workshop articles.

Hello, I was away so didn't take care of the mods for a while.

Answering the questions that you did;

@J.M Don't know if compatible, in any case if is only a retexture most of my mod will work aniway.

@Fifa You can not use it...

@Hidalgo That will not conflict with anything, the additional unit got his own key.

@Amfibius Glad that you like it, that was indeed the premise ^^

@davefrags You are welcome :)

I love this mod. All I want is to be able to run a loreful army of night goblins with no orcs or normal goblins. With this we can do it. It also brings the aesthetic a little more toward 'Oldhammer' which is what I'm after too.

Any chance of a version without the new spears unit? Just the reskin for avoid conflicts with other mods that add units because this mod adds a single unit.

hello, is there a way to not use the additional units?

I Guess it's not compatible with "Go Squig or Go Home!". Do you think it's possible to have the mod without "small squigs retexturing"? Thanks in advance.

i'm not sure what you did in that last update but it seems to have fixed my unit card issue xD

@dallasvsthewrld Haha, well, I'm glad that you're sticking with my mod!

sadly had to go with the option of removing the other unit cards bc it was bothering me so bad :steamfacepalm: the designs of your gobbos are just way too good to not use for such a small conflict lol
