IMDC V-13h Dragonfly MedEvac Transport

Description
Update September 19, 2025: Gutted and redone. New landing gear, and integration for the IMDC modular container system. Lost the jumpdrive, but it's a better ship by far, AND you can carry a mergeable jumpdrive pod (coming soon) so it won't matter. I'll update pics later.

IMDC V-13h DragonFly MedEvac Transport:

Injuries happen. Whether construction or combat related, or just plain accidents, it's a simple fact of life on the frontier. And when they happen planetside, they often call on this specialized version of the Dragonfly. The original V-10i Dragonfly was envisoned as a light personnel transport. However, with the advent of newer craft which could take passengers to orbit in greater comfort and / or packing additional firepower, this ship found itself without a mission. Inspired by the famous Jolly Green Giant helicopter from a long-bygone earth conflict, many of these old ships were repurposed into a medical evacuation transport, with 4 cryopods taking the place of the 4 open seats. Additional thrust was added to aid its escaping planetary gravity wells and get its passengers prompt medical attention. Furthermore, a new standardized modular cargo system was installed, allowing for detachable cargo pods with full inventory access or even a jump drive module.

The resulting craft proved extremely capable as a planetary medical evacuation transport, able to make rapid insertions with "suicide burns" due to its massive amount of lifting thrust. While very lightly-armed, the rapid-fire fixed Gatling guns were chosen for their effectiveness against engineers, sabiroids, and wolves. As a MedEvac ship it is not expected to throw above its weight; it is expected to retreat if the area is not secure. Thus a decision was made to optimize it for the types of enemies it might actually need to engage.

Out-of-character:

This ship always kind of reminded me of the Jolly Green Giant helicopter for some reason. As it no longer had a real place, its roles taken by the Raven and Osprey, I figured why not turn into a medevac? It suits the design and it fills a role that otherwise was vacant. The original versions were also total deathtraps in atmosphere due to almost no lateral thrust; 1 degree of tilt would have you sliding. The redesigned tail fixed that, and now it's a hotrod. The regular V-13 version of the Dragonfly is a more traditional passenger transport, with the same cargo pod support.
