Description
Better AI | 1.16

Compatible with EAW, KR, KRX, RT56, ect. Compatible with any mod which doesn't radically change how units work. The DLCs NSB and BBA are recommended but not required.

(NEW) New dynamic AI attack patterns. The improved frontline AI behavior is now standalone with this mod. IE less suicidal AI death charges, more tank pushes instead.



Prepare to face more tactical and intelligent AI attacking
The AI does not suicide into the line as often and instead is more likely to conduct more careful attacks along side large tank pushes.

Prepare to face legions of tanks
Adjusts production priorities in the AI. Instead of spamming ♥♥♥♥ infantry, they'll instead focus much of their production on tank divisions and air planes.

Prepare to meet an equal airforce
HOI4 AI always were utterly terrible at building airplanes. As long as you built meta fighters and had the industry to back it up you'd basically always win. Well not anymore. The AI will built meta fighters to destroy your nation in the air.

Prepare to meet strong fleets on the high seas
The AI will build good ship designs, so naval battles are no longer free.

Prepare to build against massive industry
The AI will waste a lot less civs and instead focus on building a massive industry for you to face off against. You won't be able to out build the AI with your eyes closed.

Prepare to fight concentrated tank divisions
Instead of building an army of 16w divisions with two light tanks, the AI will instead build beafy medium tank divisions and even heavy tanks if it has the industry to do so.

Prepare to get penetrated by enemy AT
The AI will build AT in their divisions and use it against you. Your tanks will not automatically roll through enemy infantry.

Prepare to race for modern technology
Forces the AI to research key technologies if they don't for a long enough time period. You will no longer be fighting Fighter ones in 1941.

Prepare to face an adaptive enemy
The AI will now have five different AI: Postures, which are viewable strategies the AI takes depending on the situation it finds itself in.

With permission, some of the code regarding templates and production is a heavily modified version of Amine Alkaline's Divisional AI

I highly recommend you check out all of his stuff, its really good. Improving on what better mechanics has done with the AI is the goal of this mod. This mod does change how the frontline AI behaves, and it is also is compatible with a mods which does it further, check out Frontline AI Some of the code in here also comes from frontline AI.

(If you play with Frontline AI make sure to set 'AI Production Fix' gamerule to blocked. This mod has something similar built in so if you don't block it the effects will double up.)

(The game will run with BM: Divisional AI and BM: Better Designs. They are not mutually exclusive, but this mod tries to be an improvement of those mods. The BM mods and this mod will basically overlap over each other and do very similar things.)

Known Bugs

-Sometimes AI will build bad designs for a short period, before switching back to the good ones.

-Mod determines who is AI at game start. For example if you start as Germany and then use '~observe' German AI will lose some features of the mod. If you want to watch an AI only game with the mod, start as an unimportant nation on the map before switching to observer mode.

2024
Dec 8th: AI will now build good modern tanks, AI will now build good flame tanks, Fix AI air comp bug, AI will take advantage of med_cannon_3 tech (for expanded tech tree mods), AI will now build more tanks early game using more primitive models, AI will now build more marines.

Dec 11th: AI will now build a much bigger air force, AI air will now get MIO bonuses, removed DLC requirements, Improved AI production balancing, AI will now build more military factories.

Dec 16th: AI will now build different sets of divisions based on doctrine(instead of everyone using the same ♥♥♥♥), AI divisions now will build more meta oriented combat widths, AI will now use mechanized units in their tank divisions, AI will now be given minor buffs.

Dec 26th: AI now gets new bonuses on higher difficulties. Again re-balanced tank and air production. Forces AI to use more AT, Stugs, and Humels. AI now builds mechanized units. AI now builds more special forces.

2025

Jan 1st: Rolled back to Dec 16th till crashing issues are figured out.

Mar 5th: Updated to 1.16, fixed EAW and Rubber bugs, Reduced AI air spam.

Mar 8th: Completely Reworked AI Industry Building, removed all minor building buffs, AI now builds cool special forces units, fixed AI using wrong imp air, AI stops wasting money on the market.

May 1st: Added Good Naval Designs For AI, No longer gives free equipment design to AI, AI countries now builds a variety of tank and plane designs depending on doctrine, Reworked AI equipment production, AI now uses MIO companies more often, fix AI building to much of one thing bug, AI builds more inf equipment.

May 4th: AI now uses more arty in inf divisions, AI builds more tanks early game

May 6th: Added New Feature, AI: Postures, which are viewable strategies the AI takes depending on the situation it finds itself in. Revamped Industry Building Again. AI now builds mechanized marines.

May 16th: AI now build more meta tank designs and tank templates.

May 21st: Changed AI front line behavior. AI now builds more meta infantry.

May 28th: Reworked Industry AI again. Reworked Frontline AI again. Both are a lot better now.

July 10th: Patched unit under production.

This mod buffs the AI in some instances to increase the difficulty.
