Toei 300 Series / 東京都交通局300形

The Toei 300 Series is an AGT vehicle operating on the Nippori-Toneri Liner.

Constructed from 2006 to 2011, the 300 series is the inaugural vehicle type on the Nippori-Toneri Liner. 12 sets were produced prior to the line’s opening in 2008, with 4 additional sets added afterwards. All formations are in fixed sets of 5 cars, with each car slightly less than 9 meters in length. The type uses a stainless-steel body with an exterior design alike the now-retired Yurikamome 7000 series. It is one of the few commuter transit vehicles in Tokyo to have some transverse seating, installed out of concern that a fully open interior could cause the weight limit to be exceeded in cases of heavy crowding. Therefore, a semi-cross seating layout is adopted in all cars. After a year in service, the weight issue was deemed less problematic than originally expected, and the three sets produced later have some cross seats removed to increase standing room. The 302 set was damaged in the 2021 Chiba Earthquake and subsequently deregistered. From FY2022, the 300 series began to be withdrawn in favor of all long seat 330 series. Toei have stated that the 12 initial vehicles operating since the line’s opening will be replaced by the 330 series by FY2024, while the 4 newer ones will remain for the time being. Per the latest data in Nov. 2024, 9 sets have been retired, leaving 7 in active use.
