Description
The 1978 Formula One season was the 29th season of FIA Formula One motor racing. The World Drivers'Champion was American Mario Andretti, who drove for the Constructors'Champions, Lotus 79-Ford Cosworth.
It would be Andretti's only title, and Lotus' last title. The season was marred by the death of Andretti's teammate, Ronnie Peterson, at the Italian Grand Prix. Peterson finished second the Championship
