Basic Guide to what the random events do

Holy Gift

Pick a unit, it will receive the option to heal model count to max or a permanent buff to re-roll all failed damage saves. Very strong, good on units with good defense/armor. Anything with a 2+ becomes pretty unkillable.


Dark Gift

Pick a unit, you will receive a number of dice based on model count and need to roll a certain number of 6s. Can reroll as many times as you need but 1s will kill a model and then get locked into place so you don't always get it. The buff is +1 power and +1 attack. Good on units with a high model count.


Optional Battle

Gives an optional fight to get a magic item. Might be against wizards, dire wolves, trolls, minotaurs, etc.


Forgotten Tomb

Select as many models from as many units as you want to receive more gold per model sent and a magic item. About 20-40% of the units die (appears to be an armor save roll, so high armor might help, but number of survivors is most important for the gold reward).


Hire (Beast Master, Siege Workshop, Mercenaries, etc.)

Several different hiring events, ranging from a choice of war machines or units from different factions for money or a specific unit at the cost of less money per battle.


Magical Artifact

Get offered a magic item that you can keep or sell.


Circle of Power

Get to choose a spell.


Lost Regiment

A random unit is lost and you can choose to Wait or Search. If you search they will gain experience and lose some models. If you wait they turn into an equivalent undead unit (Wight Guard, Dread Knights) but keep their equipment/upgrades.


(Dwarf only) Ancestral Strength

Pick a Unit. Grants Fearless and +3 power for one turn.

(Dwarf only) Dwarven Weapon Cache

Add a weapon to a unit. Can add miner charges or rifles, crossbows, etc. to otherwise melee units. Or make a worse redundant choice.

I'll update this as I come across them, just wanted to get something down in the meantime. Feel free to comment with details.

Forgotten Tomb Update:
I put in 9 Abyssal Warriors; only 1 died; I received 127 gold and a Potion of Power.
Following the suggestion by Superginger, it does indeed look like Armour Save roles. :)

Lost Regiment update - I chose to "wait" with my wolfriders, and they returned as Dreadknights! So maybe cavalry turn into dreadknights whilst infantry turn into Wight Guard?

I think how it actually works is the units make armor saves. That's why it tends to average out to 20-40% dying. I think in your case you just got really unlucky and the reason you didn't get anything was not because you only sent 4 but because no one lived. So the minimum is at least 1 survivor.

I always just send as many as I can of my cheapest unit.

I appreciate you putting this together! I think there's a minimum unit requirement for Forgotten Tomb. I sent in 4 sword masters and all 4 ded and no treasure :steamfacepalm:
That might be my B, but I'm curious to know what the limit is to get the treasure, and if that limit is a moving target(like 5-10 minimum)

Dwarven Weapon Cache can also give crossbows, or give a leader a dwarven pistol.

Circle of Power can happen in any chapter, not just chapter 3.
