Mechanical WSAD Converter [no scripts, no mods]

Description
Have you ever wanted to use your WSAD (aka WASD) controls to drive something other than these boring wheels?
Well now you can and in pure vanilla, scriptless fashion!

This (somewhat) compact contraption converts WSAD input into usable Event Controller signals.
All you need to do is add actions ECs, which are labeled with corresponding letters for ease of use.
This system can be usefull in a variety of applications for example in cranes, excavators, robotic arm, etc.
Converter can easily be powered on and off by simply switching its wheel on and off.
In some cases reversing steering or propulsion can be necessary.
To ensure proper functioning DO NOT obstruct the moving elements.

Sure thing, unfortunatly without success, but I'm glad you find it cool at least.
The thruster method seems more suitable to this application, yes.
You have some nice workshop creations by the way, good stuff!

@bart823823 thanks for trying to solve the issue. I was hoping to use this blueprint in a vehicle built because I think it's cooler. I ended up having to use use event controllers looking at thrusters to convert wasd to actions instead, unfortunately.

Indeed, I tested it and the problem starts to show above about 20m/s. I uncapped the wheel speed limit but it did't seam to help. It might be just the game physics working its magic, so I'm afraid it can't be easily fixed. You may try fiddling with parameters of the divice though, it might be possible to do something about it.

I found that it lost responsiveness as speed increased. Is there a way to mitigate this?

No hurry, share it when it will be ready. Aircraft without a gyro sure is complex and oh believe me I tried to make one back in the day.

oh and the Rear Omni Flaps were inspired by directional thrust systems since we cant have that in space engineers 1 without so many rotors and hinges around a big cluster of thrusters and yes i tried and thats how i know it cant be done, my god the lag when i tried to make directional thrusters!

i wish i could share the current plane project im working on but its a brutal little beast just not finished. been working on an omni directional Rear Flap Array along with wing mounted rotor controlled rutters, two top side two under the wings and with the aerodynamics mod in play this plane needs all of it since the plane is designed to fly with out gyro but does have some to assist in flying but should they get shredded then with this new WSAD system could let me and other pilots control Aero Surface Systems without convoluted control systems and a bloody cluster of programmable blocks, timers, action blocks and so many other things to make a control system for the Aero Surface Systems like the Omni Directional Rear Flap Array.

You have a noble goal sir. It fills my heart with joy knowing that people find uses for my creations.
Hopefully when SE2 comes out of early acces the size limitations won't be such an issue.
Good luck on your work.
