Description
O-GD29 Eidolon SM

Lore:
O-GD29 Eidolon SM (or Oribital-GroundDeployed SpaceModernised) was the successor to the O-GD27 which was the predominant fighter within the Renation Army during its first release. O-GD29 was released a couple years before the end of the galactic wide war and saw extensive service during its limited lifetime. Like its predecessor, it was designed to be launched by ground based fighter silos or carried by space based capital ships.

The moment O-GD29 got introduced into the frontlines, all the GD27's were decomishioned and sent back to Golden Legion Industries to be upgraded into the GD29 SM variant. Most GD27 veterans and ace pilots were not happy with the change as they had spent years fighting with their trusted machines and a change in flight charactheristics did not come easy for people who risked their lives on a daily basis. However after some getting used to most pilots stoped complaining and actualy preferred the new design as it provided better stats overall with the crafts only downside being increased weight. For this reason alone, some notable ace pilots decided to keep their older GD27's and modify it themselves. Among these pilots was Eraan Chethin who participated during almost all major battles within the galactic conflict and earned many medals for himself. Despite his preference of the older fighter, the renation navy quickly switched all its GD27's with the newer GD29 SM series and dominated the battlefield for the very short time they had.

Compared to the older GD27, this new design had upgraded turrets that fixed most of the software issues that plauged the older GD27 models while also being equipped with better countermeassures. Instead of relying on ECM jammers like the old design, the GD29 instead uses directed jammer integrated chaff/flare rods to evade enemy locks. One of the main problems with the GD27 was also adressed within this model as engine overheating was a major concern for GD27 pilots within the Renation navy. Optical instruments alongside the FCS system were also reworked to allow for more precise targeting. Even though all this technical rework has been done, the craft was still too similar to its older brother and was only able to be identified by its different top turret, newer Renation color scheme or its added wings for aerodynamic stability.

Out of lore stuff:
It's been a while, but i plan on finishing a lot of my old projects and uploading them (before the hype dies). This modernisation was just sitting in my BP list for a while so i had to upload it. Ngl im pretty proud of this one since i think it combines aesthetics and functionaity pretty well as is the focus of most my designs.
