Big Iron by Aric

Description
Note
Please note that version 1.1 is unlikely to be save compatible, and now has a dependency, The excellent Brothers' Modding Library, which adds some really useful conversation code that lets me do stuff.

To the Town of Joppa, a stranger rode one day. Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say. No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip. The stranger there among him had a Big Iron on his hip.

What does the mod add?
Quest
Adds a Qud spanning quest, where you must hunt down and bring to justice 7 outlaws. Each settlement has a corresponding outlaw. Make your way through each settlement, speaking with people that might know your quarry. When you find one, convince them to share their location, be that through intimidation, bribery, or by taking advantage of your faction relationship.

Speak to the Old Ranger in Joppa to begin, and return after each successful hunt for your rewards!

Creatures
7 enemies, plus the quest giver, The Old Ranger are added. Each with unique sprites and gear. Find them throughout Qud, from the peaceful(ish) salt marshes, to the terrifying Moon Stair.

Gear
Each outlaw comes equipped with their own unique gear, which can only be found by taking them down. Additionally, there's a powerful (pistol shaped) reward for taking them all down. I won't spoil it all, but some of what you can find:
A pistol mitt that fires dessicating quills
A two handed pistol, the hand cannon
A Naser Cannon, torn from the corpse of a Galgal (though you can't do the tear it off yourself just yet just yet)
An armour shredding vibroshotgun
A corrosive sludge pump, that traps your quarry in a caustic adhesive puddle

And more!

Notes
The investigation system has a couple of hidden parameters. Firstly, the intimidate options often have a hidden required ego in order to be accessible. If you're not intimidating enough, the option will be greyed out. Also, people don't like it when you threaten them, so you will lose rep with the faction!

The bribery option won't show up unless you have enough liquid water on your person. The cost scales depending on the area, it's harder to bribe Tilli or Yurl than it is Nima Ruda!

Future updates
  • Some of the tiles are still placeholders, which I will update as I can
  • Balance updates
  • Expansion of the investigation system

    Thanks
I owe a huge amount of thanks to the Qud discord modding server, as they've given a huge amount of guidance.

Absolutely hugest thanks though go to Balthichou and Patatifique, who's conversation part mod (now a dependency) was instrumental in my development of the investigation system. Couldn't have done it without you guys!

Nice work on the mod! I did want to bring to your attention that Stiltlands Gold can be domesticated. He happened to spawn that way during the Grit Gate Defense for me.
