Wider Marriage Spot

Description
Enables support for fully-functional marriage spots in larger sizes than the standard 2x1 format.

In the interest of spreading positivity to the community I want to take the opportunity to highlight some of the most heartfelt comments left here by some very special visitors.

Have you ever wanted to set up a wedding and then realized you made the room an odd number of cells wide and there was no way to center the marriage spot? Well now you can have a marriage spot that's 3 cells wide.

This isn't just a resize of the existing marriage spot. The game has a lot of hard-coded behavior that requires both pawns to be directly adjacent to one another in order for the wedding to proceed. I've removed those restrictions using Harmony patching, allowing you to use wider marriage spots where the pawns will actually position themselves appropriately at either end.

  • Adds new marriage spots in 3x1, 4x1, and 5x1 sizes.
  • Pawns will position themselves at either end of the marriage spot during the wedding.
  • Optional setting for pawns to occupy the center of a spot with an odd-numbered width.
  • Features similar to those in Barely Better Spots by OwlChemist.
    • Marriage spots can be placed nearly anywhere. Use common sense!
    • Choose from a selection of textures including completely transparent.

How big can the marriage spots be?
There's technically no limit, but I've only included options for 3x1, 4x1, and 5x1. Anything wider than that and you're venturing into some pretty bizarre territory, but technically there's nothing stopping you from adding even wider ones.

What about different dimensions? Can I make a 3x3 marriage spot?
That could also technically work, but why would you want that? Best case scenario the pawns would be in diagonally opposite corners of the spot. It seems pointless and prone to causing weird behavior, so it's not supported.

Does this mean I can have polyamorous wedding ceremonies?!
Sorry, but that's not something this mod provides. That would be a much larger project that I'm not currently interested in taking on.

The rating on your mod is kind of low. How do you feel about that?

Romance On The Rim
Compatibility patch included which allows its Wedding Ritual to recognize the new marriage spots as valid ritual locations. This mod makes no changes to how Romance On The Rim chooses pawn locations during the Wedding Ritual, so behaviour may be different than the standard marriage ceremony.

@inglix I'm using Rimworld Mod Manger for it's sorting ability and fact that i don't have to load up the game to make a simple change. The sorting works off of rimsorts community rules which so far has been extremely help in remodding my game. The mod manager itself is what is complaining and won't load the mod with it being wrong.

Certainly not the first time I've gotten that tag wrong. My brain seems to insist on considering "Metadata" as a single word.

I'm also curious what mod manager you're using. Or are you possibly running an OS that cares about case sensitivity more than Windows does?
Rokk 19 Sep @ 3:58am
Looks like it should indeed technically be <ModMetaData> (with the "D" capitalized), but it seems both Rimsort and the ingame mod window won't complain if it's not capitalized, so technically this isn't a breaking issue. What mod manager are you using, anyway? Rimpy should probably no longer be used, and I'm not aware of any other mod managers existing.

Just an FYI. I found a small error when trying to use the mod that seemed to make it not show in my mod list. In the About.xml "<ModMetadata>" is like this but the mod manager i was using kept yelling at me until i changed it to "<ModMetaData>" And of course the closing statement to "</ModMetaData>"

The mod would not load into rimworld mod manager until I made this change. thought i should let you know.

Thank you, Jesus, for this mod. This is proof miracles do happen in this modern day.

Amen.

This is a real nice mod to snag, I've never used the marriage spots in-game because as a two by one space, they never fit nicely in the middle of my prayer halls, since I like to have them central with the pulpit and what not. Now I can neatly fit one in my ideology room so they stop getting married in the dining room or game hall! Appreciate it! :peace:
