Worthy Conquerors

Description
Worthy Conquerors
Mod that alters a character's eligibility and percentage chance for the conqueror pulse event.
The goal of the mod is to make conquerors much more impressive characters skill and trait wise.

Mod Status
This mod is considered complete. I will do my best to ensure compatibility with game version updates.

Please note that I currently have no intention of buying future CK3 DLCs. If a future DLC breaks this mod I will not be able to fix it.

Details

Eligibility
To be eligible for the conqueror event a character needs to:

* be a healthy, landed, independent adult of age 50 or less (down from 60)
* have a highest title of duchy or kingdom (see game rules section)
* have an education of 3 star or higher (see game rules section)
* a conqueror's personality (see below)
* not to be involved in any struggle (see game rules section)
* not be at war

Conqueror's Personality
A new personality check has been added that examines hidden values. To pass the following is required:
* 0 or higher value for boldness and energy
* 30 or higher value for either boldness, honor, greed or zeal
* does not have either craven, content or lazy personality traits
* does not follow a religion or culture that favours pacifism

This aim of the check is to allow for a variety of different style conquerors but at the same time filter out nonsensical ones.

See the personality traits[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] section on the wiki for more information on what hidden values traits give.

Random Chance Percentage
The percentage chance to trigger the conqueror pulse event has been reworked.
Non character specific increases (such as having a clan government) have been removed.
Instead, the percentage is now influenced by the following character specific items:
* education, with those martial educated getting a bigger bonus
* martial skill
* prowess skill
* traits across all categories, not just personality. (e.g getting certain lifestyle traits will improve chances)
* prestige level, with higher levels contributing more
* certain rare modifiers, such as tool of fate

Game Rules
Existing game rules related to conquerors still work as normal.
The following new game rules are added by the mod.

Title Tier Conquerors
Determines whether characters with certain title tiers are eligible to be conquerors.

Prevent Empires - stops Emperors from becoming conquerors (default)
Prevent Kingdoms or Higher - stops Kings or higher from becoming conquerors
Allow All - no title tier restrictions to becoming a conqueror

Struggle Participant Conquerors
Determines whether characters who are involved in a struggle are eligible to be conquerors.

Prevent - stops them from becoming conquerors (default)
Allow - allows them to be conquerors

Education Type
Determines what education conquerors are required to have.

Any - any education type is allowed (default)
Martial Only - only those martially educated can be conquerors

Be aware that restricting the education type will drastically reduce the number of eligible conqueror candidates.

Education Level
Determines the required level of education for conquerors.

2 Stars or higher
3 Stars or higher (default)
4 Stars or higher

Be aware that using 4 Stars or higher option will drastically reduce the number of eligible conqueror candidates.

Spawn During Wars
Determines if the conqueror triggering event is allowed to spawn whilst a character is at war.

Allow - allows the event to trigger during wars
Prevent - stops the event triggering during wars (default)

Allow Trait On Game Start
Determines if certain historical characters (e.g. Saladin) are allowed to have the conqueror trait on game start.

Allow - allows certain historical characters to have the trait on game start (default)
Prevent - prevents certain historical characters from having the trait on game start

Seljuk Invasion Conqueror
Determines if the leader of the Seljuk Invasion (in the 867 start) should become a conqueror.

Note that using Allow will disable the event option that peacefully makes the Seljuk's a loyal vassal.

Allow - leader will become a conqueror after winning the initial invasion war (default)
Prevent - leader will not become a conqueror after winning the initial invasion war, though my still do so via random chance

Seljuk Invasion Culture Faith
Determines whether to fix leader of the Seljuk Invasion's culture and faith to match the later start dates.

Whilst not related to the conqueror trait this rule has been added to avoid situations like 'Orthodox Seljuks'.

Fixed - leader will have Oghuz culture and Maturidi Faith
Base Game - leader's culture and faith will be determined using the base game logic

Compatibility
This mod overwrites the story_cycle_conqueror_events file and will not be compatible with any other mod that also changes this file.

It also overwrites the Seljuk Invasion event and effect.

Other Notes
* Conquerors who exist on game start do not need to pass the eligibility check
* This mod does not change how inheritance works for the conqueror trait

Localization
German - https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355568022
Chinese - https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403925213

If you have a mod that provides localization for Worthy Conquerors please link it in the comments, and I'll add it here.

Bug/Issues
Due to the random nature of this event it is difficult to verify that the check correctly includes/excludes personality combinations.
If you think a character who received the conqueror trait should not have please let me know and I will investigate.
Please be aware of the inheritance notes above before doing so.

I've been working on some minor tweaks for this mod and was wondering if you could integrate some additional game rules to help keep things on track.

I made a map of the various geographical regions and it's possible to to prevent conquerors from spawning if their capital is in a certain region. I've been using it mostly so Europe doesn't get overrun by a rampaging HRE but I expanded it to various regions that didn't have major moves in history.

Here's the map visualising the below script: https://i.imgur.com/RAdPCSI.png

NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = world_europe } }
NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = world_tibet } }
NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = world_siberia } }
NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = world_africa_east } }
NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = world_himalaya } }
NOT = { capital_province = { geographical_region = custom_sahara_proper } }

Might be something you want in this mod.

I have translated your mod into German (AI assisted) and added the localization to my translation mod: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355568022

Of course, you can extract the files and add them to your own mod, or include a link to the mod in your description — or do neither. As you wish!

Amazing! Thanks!

@Pepega sure why not. I've repurposed the empire game rule to a title tier one. Use the 'Prevent Kingdoms or Higher' option.

A game rule to prevent kingdom level tiers from getting it would be nice as well.

@btp18 I'm still getting conquerors with the default game rules so I dont think its this mod. Check what game rules you have on.

A simple way to verify its still working is to set the Frequency rule to 100%, observe a game at speed 5 for a while and then use the character search to find those with the trait

im not getting any conquerors at all now which is strange? Any idea why that is? This is the only Mod i run that i think affects that part of gameplay? I used to get them way too much before and now i dont get any, its been like 50-100 years in game
