Rusher Kimura

Decades before CM Punk was cutting pipebombs on WWE programming, Japanese veteran Rusher Kimura had earned the nicknames 'Mr. Microphone' and 'Demon of the Steel Cage' in Japan.

As the IWE promotion's central star for many years, Rusher Kimura became synonymous in Japan with his bloody cage bouts. Many of which, too gruesome to show on television. Following in the traditional Puroresu footsteps carved out by Rikidozan, Rusher became a superstar on his native soil by besting a number of foreign heels.

Into the twilight of Rusher's career, Kimura rebranded himself as 'Mr. Microphone', due to his witty, off-the-wall promos delivered to any unfortunate opponent who caught the 'demon''s ire. The impact of which reinvented Kimura as a comedy-based pop culture personality in Japan; even to the point of having numerous dolls and a video game based on Kimura's lethal mic skills.
