Hiroden 3900 Series / 広島電鉄3900形

The 3900 Series (3900形) is a light rail/tram vehicle operated by Hiroshima Electric Railway since 1990.

Developed as an improved version of the 3800 series, it shares the same nickname of “Greenliner” used by vehicles produced immediately before and after this type. The 3900 series features smoother acceleration compared to its predecessors, achieved with higher output motors and improved control equipment. The exterior remained mostly the same apart from headlights and minor livery changes, although the appearance of Hiroden vehicle would be drastically altered with the subsequent 3950 series. Standard long seats are used on the interior, with a green theme matching the exterior. Level boarding is supported from most stations, although only the last two cars have dedicated wheelchair spaces. Operationally, all vehicles in the 3900 series are used on Line 2 services, running between Hiroshima Station onto the Miyajima Line, with some rush hour instead terminating at Hiroden-Honsha-Mae instead of Hiroshima Station.
