Altis Defence Forces (ADF) - 2010s Lore

By the 2010s, the Altis Defence Forces (ADF) stand as a modernized military, defending the Democratic Republic of Altis (DRA) from the persistent threat of the Socialist People’s Republic of Altis (SPRA) in the east. Despite the Cold War-style stalemate along the Pyrgos Line, the ADF has undergone significant upgrades.

Equipped with SIG SG 550 rifles, ADF infantry now boast advanced firepower, while mobility is enhanced by Humvees and mechanized units using LAV-25A1 APCs and the older M113s. The backbone of the armored divisions is the formidable Merkava 2C tank, ready to repel any SPRA incursions.

In the air, the ADF fields a mix of UH-1H helicopters for transport and gunship roles. Its air force includes Mirage 2000 multirole fighters and F-5s, ensuring aerial superiority over the eastern skies.

Though tensions remain high, the ADF maintains strong defensive positions, vigilant along the fortified border, prepared to defend western Altis against any socialist aggression.

Historical Background:

In the aftermath of the Greek Civil War in the 1950s, Soviet and Egyptian influence spread into the eastern regions of Altis, sparking unrest. In 1956, the Communist Uprising in the east, supported by Soviet-aligned local socialists, overwhelmed the government forces. By 1957, the island was formally divided when the military of Altis could no longer hold back the growing socialist insurrection. The Pyrgos Line, a fortified and heavily patrolled zone, became the physical symbol of this split.
