Operating at a depth of 2,756km below the local terrestrial surface, Deepstation07, known to employees as "The Bin" is currently the deepest still functioning subterranean observation station on earth. The station is part of a series of stations connected via tunnels that serves the purpose of extracting rare silicates, like olivine, garnet, and pyroxene, found at depths approaching the crust-mantle border. Located beneath the surface of White Horse, the capital of the Yukon territory in Canada, this station serves as the final long-term habitation area for the employees of a Canadian mining company.
Unfortunately, due to unknown reasons information regarding the company in charge of this facility is scarce. What is known is it is a private business that has somehow brokered a deal between itself and the Canadian government to keep its identity from any and all federal or international documentation. While federal officials have declined inquiries into the matter, it is likely that they are receiving some sort of financial compensation for their compliance in continuing the secrecy of the mine owners.
There have been several journalists from Canada and the United States that have attempted to gain more information on the identity of the business running the mining operation. None, however, have been able to infiltrate the business. Rather, they began claiming to work for the mining operation. Reports from family members claim they quit any previous jobs and began vanishing from home for up to 27 hours at a time, refusing to elaborate on their whereabouts. This behavior was claimed to have continued for weeks until they did not return home again. There current whereabouts are still unknown.
