Popis
AGE OF ANTHEMIUS - BETA RELEASE

MAJOR UPDATE! CODENAME: ‘LEX’! SEE BELOW!

LOAD ABOVE MODEL PACKS

The year is 471 AD.
The Roman world stands on the edge of total destruction.

The barbarian puppet master, Ricimer, seeks to overthrow the Emperor Anthemius after a failed campaign to restore the empire, and install his own instrument in his stead. The foederati march on Rome, and aim to take all of Italia...

In Gaul, the Magister Militum Syagrius desperately fends off the machinations of a fledgling Visigothic empire, ravenous Burgundians, and the Frankish king Childeric, seeking a new homeland for his peoples...

The British tyrant Ambrosius Aurelianus leads one last attempt to reinforce the empire, yet his army has been intercepted in Gaul, and Britannia is woefully undefended...

In the East, the Emperor Leo faces rebellious foederati of his own as well as a recently belligerent Vandalic kingdom, while the Sassanids march against the last vestiges of the Hunnic Empire once and for all.

If Anthemius can turn the tide, he may yet be able to reinforce the last desperate enclaves of the true Romans, restore the light of Rome to the world, and be crowned Restitutor Orbis. It will truly be the…

MOD FEATURES
  1. A brand new historical campaign spanning the last days of the Roman emperors, and the rise of the barbarian and foederati kingdoms.
  2. A more authentic portrayal of the foederati kingdoms that sought to retain the institutions of Rome, and the barbarian kingdoms that sought to destroy it.
  3. Entirely custom family trees with unique characters, family members, and generals.

NEW UPDATE FEATURES
  • A full Roman unit overhaul for both the West and East, featuring a new recruitment system, AoR troops via the garrison chain in certain provinces, and a fresh roster! We will let you, the players, discover it for yourselves!

  • A tech overhaul for Western Rome, featuring a brand new mechanic not seen in any other mod: Pillars of Destruction! These ‘pillars’ in reality replace the disliked legacy techs. How will you solve institutional corruption, depopulation, and the many, many other issues plaguing the Empire? Research the required techs to remove the pillar from generating its negative effects! Though be prepared for unforeseen consequences…

  • Newly implemented changeable faction names for almost all playable factions, for tribes to become nations and claimants to become empires…

  • Prepare to defend both halves of the Empire with the implementation of region trading! Now you don’t have to steal land from your fellow Romans (or Goths) in order to restore the world! After (re)conquering a region, simply hand it back to its rightful owners!

  • Though don’t strain your armies too much, or you might end up losing a major battle, and with that something even more major: the very will of your people! War weariness is now here and ready to plunge your endeavors into chaos if you’re not a careful warmonger…

  • Many bugfixes, script cleanups and various quality of life improvements, multiple of which suggested by you, the players!

  • ...And much more!

@mario

Thank a lot. This is the scenario I was waiting for. And with really great modding too, the event are cool, the army seems to be realist for a late roman army.

My game was awesome until war weariness broke it: Anthemius managed to repel a Vandal invasion and sign peace with them while my caesar killed Odoacer in the most desesperate fight I ever saw on Attila. I annexed all northern italy but 1 city I was forced to leave to my momentary allies the burgundian. While one of my 2 stacks held the line in Italia against the Wisigoths, Anthemius fought the Ostrogoths in illyria and survided a 2 stacks nomad invasion. I was preparing to beseige Sirmium when my war weariness broke my empire.

Hi just downloaded the mod, amazing work but i have exactly the same problem as jduke in windows 11. the game is unplayable as just keeps freezing up every 10 to 15 seconds as if graphics issue. my pc can run the latest TW's on max graphics so think its something to do with windows 11..

Yeah, already thought so. Thanks for confirming

@marechalCAMBRONNE War weariness being reworked, don't worry!

@bb 80 Likely not! Mods that edit the startpos usually don't play nice with each other.

@twistzzy Not sure what you mean by reset the city - do you mean rebuild? Plenty of events (already included for Anthemius) being planned, though they'll follow an authentically alt-historical rather than historical basis. Justinian and the Carolingians are centuries in advance, so no plans at all for them. We'd recommend checking out the Age of Justinian mod for that!

Love the mod. Only the war weariness is a problem for me.
bb 80 1. srp. v 23.33
Hi, love your mod!
do you know if it can be combined with the rome rebirth mod II?
twistzzy 28. čvc. v 8.22
Will you reset the city? Could you do historical events? Will you do a mod for decades or until Justinian or Carolingian?
Mario  [autor] 27. čvc. v 1.17
@jduke I've not tested with Win 11, but if you could play around with it, that'll help us understand any issues. If I had to guess, try testing different graphics settings, and see if that helps at all.

@MaCe We'll be toning down war weariness a little next update - the mod is meant to be difficult, with a realistic interpretation of Anthemius' struggle, but that sounds more game breaking than entertaining. Try not to get yourself into wars across the map, since and vanquish your foes as quickly as possible - lest some may try and end the reign of Anthemius' before it's time...
