1. Open your drone app
   
2. Change it to the 4th mode (Animal Cam)
   
3. Zoom in, so that you can see a Bird/Insect long before you get close (I usually use mid-level zoom)
   
4. Fly around (be careful with yoru speed, you dont want to get too close to the critter on accident)
   
5. Look at the common location for your target. If you look for Birds as well as Insects you need to look out for everything: Railings, Benches, Bridge-Beams, Fences, Trees.
   
6. You'll either see the Critter yourself or be notified by a box around it, if the AI of the Drone spotted it before you.
   Note that this screenshot is at MAX ZOOM
   
   This is how it looked with MINIMUM ZOOM:
   In this case, the green box means i already took a photo of this species of bird. If its white, it is a new Species
   
7. The second you have a white box, i recommend taking the picture,
   it doesnt matter if its a good photo. The box means the drone sees the Critter and can log it.
   

• You usually have 5 seconds to take the pic, before the Critter flies away
  
• You cant take a picture when they are flying, it wont be logged even if the Critter is clearly visible. It has to be sitting down on something.
  
• They dont sit down again but despawn in the distance, so you never get a second chance. So its no use following it after the fact
  
• Meeting a Resident of SunnySide does refresh the area, i had a bird spawn directly beside me after having Coffee at Naka. So if in doubt, you can try that but i dont know how much it helps.
  
• Do not ride your Bike, Moped or Truck to the location you want to scout, walk there (no running in the area and close to it either!) - you might see some critters on the way. Happens more often than you'd think
  
• If you upgraded your drone, take out the speed module!
  
• If you still struggle, fishing can be your last resort as it levels up the Wildlife skill as well. In the Wildlife skill you can unlock abilities that make snaping the pictures easier

• On Railings (On Bridges and around River, possibly Ocean)
  The picture above shows a bird sitting on Railing on the Promenade near the River (infront of the Naka). This is a safe distance, from the players perspective (not the drone)
  
• On Fences (Around the Ranch and maybe your Farm)
  I've seen Birds on Gabes Ranch Fences as well as on his Gates:
  
• In the Grass (At Postoffice and possibly in Parks)
  I regularely found Birds sitting behind the Postoffice
  
• On the Bridge-Beams (Atop of Bridges, specifically the bridge from the Ranch/Postoffice to the Village)
  a bit hard to see but the black dot in the top left of the highlighted area is the bird. You can get a closer look in the second pic.
  The picture above shows a bird sitting on the Beams of the Bridge. I found it to be a very common spot, i got 3 Bird spawns there, directly back to back on the same day. I just left and looked somewhere else and when i came back there was another bird.
  
• On Birdhouses (Around your Farm)
  I have not encountered this myself but people said so in the Disscussions
  
• On the Water Pump (At your Farm)
  I saw this very early in my game and was very confused as i didnt know of Critters yet! I have since read of others also seeing birds on their water pups so keep your eyes open!

**Red rings are confirmed bird spawns. Blue rings are insects spawns.
Around the postoffice gave me about 6 birds in less than 10 minutes. I am going to show a few spots and explain just the ones that worked bets for me. There is more thogh so just keep your eyes open!
When you get there, come by foot not bike/Mooped and look to your left if theres a bird on the fence.
If theres no bird by the fence bring your drone behind the building (i recommend to fly it to the right side, so towards the bridge then turning left. This gives you more space between the drone and the critter and less chance to bump into it per accident).
Both birds and insects spawn here fairly regularely, but chances are that you at least get a birg if you stick around. For me, i got the best results on good weather right at 8~10 AM, not sure if that changes anything or just makes them easier to see...
Heres the spot behind the post office a bit closer:

Its really hard to sopt at the beginning, they seem so tiny but with some practice you will get the hang of it! And to practice it i have got some suggestes places with a high density of spawnpoints below!

• On Trees (Gardens & Parks)
  
• In the Grass (Gardens & Parks)
  
• On and under Benches (Around the Ranch, Parks and Promenade etc.)
  I have seen it but have yet to make a pic that way. Usually it was on the benches at the Promenade for me (riverside in front of the Naka)

**Blue rings are confirmed insect spawns.
At the back of the Bar i found 5+ insects in less than 10 minutes. I am going to show a few spots and explain just the ones that worked bets for me. There is more though so just keep your eyes open!
First of all theres this nice spot at the Moped, theres three trees and all three have insects points on them! If you look around and circle back to them (slow and carefully) you are bount to find something. One of the trees even has 2 points:
If you didnt get lucky here, just turn around on the post and look towards the park. You should be able to see two other insect spawns:
This is the one on the right side, if the Bar is in your back. To the left there is a little opening in the trees, showing just a bit of the bark of one. Theres the second spot.
