This guide will detail how to obtain each of the 20 achievements in the game. I have not included a full walkthrough for the story itself, as sometimes there may potentially be multiple ways to progress the conversation to the desired outcome, and certain dialogue may be optional. If you're familiar with games like Famicom Detective Club, this game plays pretty much identically--you have a menu on the left containing various commands, such as changing location, using the phone, taking pictures, searching for things, speaking to the person on the screen, showing them evidence and so on. The menu has two pages, so don't forget to make use of all the various commands!

There is also a case notes menu where you can save (though the game also has an autosave), and also look at character profiles for people you have met so far, and there is even a diagram showing how they are related. There's also a map of all the locations visited, with a description of each. There is another menu for Memory Fragments which are collectables you can gather during your investigation to form a picture for an achievement.

You can progress the story easily enough by going through and using each relevant option in the menu logically, though sometimes you may need to pick the same command repeatedly on the same topic to progress the conversation and learn more information.

This game is split into two parts--one part is set in 1987 and the other in 2024. In the 1987 part, if you ever get stuck, you can play blackjack with your trusty assistant Shun. If you best him, he will suggest what to do next. In any case though you can always brute force going through all the different options in the menu. The text normally turns yellow if it's something you've already read, which is helpful when you're trying to find new dialogue.

During the investigation, you will also want to work towards collecting the Memory Fragments along the way--check the Memory Fragments section for more details. There are a few achievements that can be missed along the way that aren't necessary for progressing the story. I've included them in order below.

You can get this achievement almost immediately when investigating with Kuroki, though you should be able to do it any time you have access to a phone during the 1987 section.
Simply call 0125-23-5000.

You can get this achievement during the investigation with Kuroki, when you're inside Le Blanc with Akemi on the sofa.
Use the command Show something → Police Badge a couple of times to make her angry.

You can get this achievement during the investigation with Shun, when you visit Kagaya Inn.
Use the command Call someone over → Geisha for the bonus scene.

You can get this achievement during the investigation with Shun, when you visit Wagoto Hot Spring, during the scene when Megumi turns up.
Use the command Take Something → Megumi's bath towel. After the conversation, just wait on the menu without doing anything for 2 minutes and the bonus scene will automatically trigger, along with the achievement.


You can get this achievement during the investigation with Shun, when you visit Abashiri Prison.
Use the command to Look around, and the achievement will trigger.

You should also have automatically obtained the following achievements during your investigation in the 1987 section of the story:

• The Truth Lies North -- obtained after finishing the initial section with Kuroki
  
• A New Chain of Events -- obtained when you go to Shiretoko Lakes for the first time
  
• The Truth Lies in Shadows -- obtained during the investigation at Notsuke Peninsula
  
• To News of Good Fortune -- obtained on completing the 1987 story

Again, during the investigation, you will also want to work towards collecting the Memory Fragments along the way--check the Memory Fragments section for more details. There are a few achievements that can be missed along the way that aren't necessary for progressing the story. I've included them in order below.

You can get this achievement soon after beginning the 2024 investigation. This time when playing cards, you get to do it on a smartphone app where there are five opponents with varying amounts of chips. All you have to do is beat them all three times each for this achievement (along with a shiny trophy for your hard work). You don't have to do it all in one go. You might want to always just go for the highest possible bet each time so it takes less rounds.

When at Lake Mashu, just make sure to Take a picture of Marina.

When visiting Wagoto Hot Spring in 2024, you should come across Megumi once more.
Just like in the 1987 section, use the command Take Something → Megumi's bath towel, then after the conversation, just wait on the menu without doing anything for 2 minutes and the bonus scene will automatically trigger, along with the achievement.

After returning to the hospital later in the investigation, you'll be heading to Kushiro Station with Marina.
Choose to go to Ozora Car twice, and this achievement should trigger.

This is probably the easiest one to miss. Earlier on in the 2024 investigation, you should have hopefully come across a mysterious woman on visiting Mashu Station for the first time and interacted with her briefly:

You might potentially be able to do the rest of this side-quest earlier, but I completed the rest of these steps after choosing not to go to Ozora Car at Kushiro Station.

• Go to Lake Kussharo, and you should spot the woman once again. Search something → click on her and briefly interact with her again. If you leave and re-enter the area she should have left.
  
• Go to Lake Mashu to find her once more. Look around, and she'll speak to you before leaving again.
  
• Go to Lake Akan to find her yet again. Ask someone → About vacation. Ask someone → About troubles. Ask someone → About next destination.
  
• Go to the Souvenir Store at Abashiri City. Take something → Nipopo Doll
  
• Go to Todowara to find the woman again. Call someone over. Ask someone → About this place. Show something → Crying Doll. Ask someone → About her name. Take a picture.
  
• Go to Shun's House. Search something → Mailbox, and the achievement should trigger at last.

The latter stages of the investigation will send you to a fishing hut, followed by going through a forest. After you've enjoyed your little bear-killing adventure, you'll find yourself in front of a cave. The game should make an autosave before going in, but it might be worth making a backup one to make sure you can reload to get the last couple of achievements.

You will be given 3 options:

• Sink it in the sea -- you will get the achievement Vanished in the Drift Ice
  
• Deliver it to the police -- you will get the achievement The Saint's Choice
  
• Split it up -- you will get the achievement Beyond Bliss

You should also have automatically obtained the following achievements during your investigation in the 2024 section of the story:

• Marina's Kidnapping -- obtained after investigating the storehouse
  
• Inukai In Action -- after rescuing Marina

For the Cluster of Fragments achievement, you will need to collect a total of 40 Memory Fragments during the course of the game. These can always be found by using the Search something → Investigate over there command and clicking on the correct spot.

20 of the Fragments can be found during the 1987 section of the game--if you miss any of these, there will be a backup Fragment that appears for it in 2024, potentially in a different location. These backup Fragments won't appear if you already found the corresponding one in 1987.

The other 20 Fragments can only be found during the 2024 section of the game.

For all the Fragments, in the jigsaw puzzle will initially show a "???" for the location, but once you've visited the location containing the Fragment for the first time, the "???" will be replaced by telling you which zone the Fragment is in.

Once you've found all the Memory Fragments, make sure to go onto the Fragments menu for the puzzle picture to complete and the achievement should trigger.

In the next sections, I've included pictures of where to find each fragment (with the cursor indicating where to click), in the order I found them in during the investigation--you should be able to follow along with the same order as you progress the story. The cursor will always be red in the spot where the Fragment is before you've collected the Fragment.
