RENFE 300000 series unified wagons

Description
RENFE Series 300000 1948-1972
During the 1940s, RENFE's wagon fleet was mainly made up of wagons inherited from the old companies, which were in very poor condition after the war. For this reason, RENFE immediately sought to build new wagons, although due to the difficulties faced by the country's industry, the first units were not delivered until the end of the 1940s.

The model chosen by RENFE used a 9.95m long rolled steel frame, a length used in other European countries since the 1920s, and which in Spain had only been used in some NORTE wagons. A multitude of versions were built on this frame, adapted to the needs of each type of load, including closed wagons, open wagons, platforms, animal cage wagons... All these models were numbered as series 300000.

In this way, the 300000 series wagons were produced for years, becoming the largest family of RENFE wagons, until the introduction of European type wagons from the mid-sixties (Gs/J2, Ks/Mfhv450000...). The 300000 series were essential in the RENFE fleet until the 70s, when they were displaced by the rise of bogie wagons, and new loading systems such as containers.

Although many survived until the 90s, they were withdrawn from service in the 80s, with some wagons being converted for internal use by RENFE, in tasks such as infrastructure maintenance.
