Description
The 8900 Series (8900形) is a tram vehicle operated by Toei on the Toden-Arakawa Line.

The newest type on the Arakawa Line, the 8900 series entered service in 2015 to replace the remaining 7000 series vehicles, which were over 60 years old. Its performance is based on the earlier 8800 series, but the exterior design has been overhauled. Primarily featuring straight lines and sharp angles over the rounded shape of the previous series, it bears a strong resemblance to one of the unselected designs proposed for the 8800 series. With the miniaturization of equipment, only the AC unit and pantograph are installed on the roof to give it a clean look, all other equipment has been moved under the carriage. The interior layout is alike to the 8800 series, primarily featuring long seating while priority seats are in bays of 2. Toei planned to introduce a total of 16 cars, but 8 of them were later cancelled in favour of the 7700 series.
