Description
Deals with the Devil have their price. Though technically the monarchy had sided with the Allies by the end of the Second World War, the parliamentary approval of Operational Tigershark and the formation of German Occupation Zone to eliminate Socialist strongholds in the East was effective political suicide by the end of the war. Soviet troops had landed on Bodinian shores, and occupied a large swath of the country. Peace treaties were drawn up, meetings where held and political killings dotted all major cities. Eventually, the Kingdom of Bodland, and the Bodland Socialist Republic (BSR) had settled borders, and were properly divided. Nobody was happy with this arrangement. The Kingdom had lost sovereign territory and saw embarrassment on a global stage, and the Socialists never achieved their dream of dismantling the bourgeoisie monarchy. Though both sides were barred from entering NATO or the Warsaw Pact, they both saw extensive military purchases and support across the Iron Curtain.

The Riksgränsskydda

With the legalised formation of the Home Guard, and the newly established hostile land borders, a necessity grew for armed border defence against Soviet militant incursion and sabotage. The Riksgränsskydda, or Border Protection, was founded to provide an armed response. In practice, this was a paramilitary organisation. Comprising of both volunteers and conscripts, the Guard was not heavily armed; stowing heavier equipment in hidden forest caches. Machine guns and rifles were often standard sights at the stations, but grenades and anti-tank weapons were held back for fear of theft or misuse. Although it was not intended to be able to repel a full-scale invasion, the Guard was tasked with dealing with small-scale threats to the security of Bodland's borders; primarily border skirimishes with armed militants. Consisting of 6 standard squadrons, and 3 shore patrol units, each squadron held 6 stations manning various checkpoints and outposts along the border, with these stations holding a unique familiarity with the terrain with they operate in. Such an organisation, whilist militarised, performs standard border control duties, inspecting passports and travel documentations when customs officials are not available.
