Kintetsu 9020/9820 Series / 近鉄9020系・9820系

The 9020 Series is a general-purpose EMU operated by Kintetsu Railway since 2000.

-This mod also includes the 9820 Series, future Kintetsu mods will also group near-identical types into the same entry.

As a part of Kintetsu’s “Series 21” generation of commuter trains, the 9020 and 9820 series are the newest types to operate on Nara-Kyoto Line system. They were built by Kintetsu’s subsidiary Kinki Sharyo with a lightweight double skinned aluminum structure. The exterior design is shared with other “Series 21” types, painted with light brown and white with a stripe of yellow. On the interior, a light gray theme is adopted, and the cabin is fitted with double glazed glass to reduce energy consumption from heating and cooling. Seats of this generation were much wider than older vehicles, but consequently the number of seats was reduced. The 9020 series are built in 2 car sets and the 9820 series are 6 cars long, both have walk-through front cars and can be coupled to a variety of Kintetsu stock to operate trains of varying lengths. 20 sets of the 9020 series and 10 sets of the 9820 series were produced from 2000 to 2008, totaling 100 cars between them. All 9820 series and all but one 9020 series formations are placed on the Nara-Kyoto Line system running on the various lines fanning out from Kintetsu-Namba terminus. The one remaining 9020 series operates on the Osaka Line, and sometimes as far as the Yamada Line and Toba Line in Mie Prefecture.
