NBL Quickstart

The NBL (National Baseball League) was founded in 1901 as the New York Baseball League with only 6 teams. As time went on, expansions happened and it slowly gained 24 new teams in 6 divisions. You'll start in 200, the 101st season of the NBL.

Complete list of expansions/major league changes

1901- League is founded with 6 teams, 50 games, and 2 playoffs teams

1926- Changed name to New England Baseball League, expanded by 6 teams and 1 division, added 38 games and 2 playoffs teams, 2 teams per division for playoffs

1950- 2 teams relocate, expanded by 4 teams (2 per division), added 2 games and 2 playoffs teams, 3 teams per division for playoffs

1963- Changed name to Northern Baseball League, expanded by 4 teams and 2 divisions, shuffled divisions, added 24 games and 2 playoffs teams, 2 teams per division for playoffs

1975- 3 teams relocate, added 4 playoffs teams, 3 teams per division for playoffs

1981- Changed name to National Baseball League, expanded by 4 teams (1 per division)

1991- Expanded by 4 teams (1 per division)

2001- Expanded by 2 teams and 2 divisions, divisions are now based on location, added 60 games and 4 playoffs teams (2 per division plus 4 wildcards)
