Before starting Deadlock do this:

Open Steam and go to Deadlock in your library
Click on the settings icon, then Properties, and then add -dev to the launch options
Should look like this
Now start Deadlock

🔷Play the unreleased heroes:

THIS DOES NOT WORK IN CUSTOM MATCHES DONE THROUGH THE MAIN MENU

To switch heroes, use these steps in a sandbox match or a lobby you've made with this guide. The section below this one will show you how to make your own match with full cheat access.

Press F7 on your keyboard
Type and run
sv_cheats true
Type and run
selecthero hero_HERONAMEHERE
Example: selecthero hero_slork
That's it, you should immediately swap heroes!
You can keep changing to try out other ones.

🔷Create a joinable online lobby:

Go to the Deadlock main menu
Press F7 on your keyboard
In the command console type
map street_test
and hit the enter button
This should bring you into an empty match, choose a hero to spawn
Press F7 again
Type and run
status
Look for the line that looks like this:
[Client] steamid : [A:1:00000:000000] (000000000)
Copy ONLY the part of that line with the square brackets. Looks like this:
[A:1:00000:000000]
IGNORE THESE PARTS OF THE LINE
[Client] steamid :
and the second half
(000000000)

🔷What your friend needs to do to join your match:

All they need to do is enter 1 command into the console.

Send your friend the code we copied
The one that looks like this [A:1:000000000:00000]
Have your friend copy the code
They open Deadlock main menu
They press F7 on their keyboard
In their command console, they type
connect
and add a space then paste the code (add the brackets and colons!)
Example:
connect [A:1:000000000:00000]
Click enter and that's it, they'll join your match!

🔹Multiple People Lobby Notes:

Other hosters have reported lag and instability in matches that are 5v5 or more.
There are more maps in the game files that you can play. To list them press F7 and use the command:
maps *
If your friends are in your lobby, to switch maps press F7 and use this command
changelevel MAP_NAME_HERE
If the map does not prompt you pick a normal hero, try clicking the ESC key and you might see a change hero button. If not, just use selecthero to choose one
(Some are broken)
Your souls and skill points are refunded when switching heroes!
Using the selecthero command breaks ability progression.

🔷Change teams and create bots:

🔹Change teams:

Press F7 on your keyboard
Type and run
sv_cheats true
Then type and run
changeteam 2
or
changeteam 3

This command does not work in PvP matchmaking matches. Only in lobbies you make or the sandbox.
Valve has fixed this working in public bot lobbies and as of writing this, it does not work in normal custom matches due to the command being disabled.

🔹How to create bots:

Press F7
Type and run
citadel_create_unit hero_HERONAMEHERE
(This will spawn them on your team. To make enemy bots, switch teams and the command again.)
To get the bots moving use
citadel_solo_bot_match 1

Not all maps have proper path finding setup so the bots might just wander aimlessly until they find a target.

🔷Play unreleased heroes by yourself:

The steps are essentially the same as above. Make sure to check to top of the guide to make it so you can access the command console.

Go to the main menu
Click play
Start a sandbox match with any hero
Click F7 on your keyboard and a command line box should appear
Type and run
sv_cheats true
Type and run
selecthero hero_HERONAMEHERE

Example: selecthero hero_slork

There are also other maps in the game files that you can play on. To list them press F7 and use the command:

maps *

To switch to any of the listed maps press F7 and use this command

map MAP_NAME_HERE

example: map 1v1_test
(Some are broken and don't function properly).

🔹Spawn bots to fight:

If you want to spawn in some bots press F7 and type and run
citadel_create_unit hero_HERONAMEHERE
You can get the bots to move by using
citadel_solo_bot_match 1

Lock the camera and view your character from other angles
cl_lock_camera true
Turn off the HUD and other elements for better screenshots
citadel_hud_visible false
Invincibility
citadel_enable_no_hero_death
Gives you 1.2 million souls and all abilities

Infinite ammo
sv_infinite_ammo true
Makes you fly through walls

Use abilities sooner
citadel_enable_fast_cooldowns

IMPORTANT NOTICE

All of these heroes are a work in progress and might end up being added to the normal game, removed, or changed significantly.

Play with them while you can!

Some users have reported game crashes occurring while playing in hosted lobbies.

Keep in mind this game is still in a very early state and features that aren't the primary focus of development might be unstable. I am unaware of a fix, but I'll be sure to update this guide with more info when I get it.

There is another method for hosting that is more stable, however it's much more complex and requires port forwarding on your router. I can make a guide on that if people are interested, leave a comment if you want me to make one.

I start a match using the map command and try to pick a hero and it get this in response:
Player Kiddley trying to pick hero hero_yamato out of draft order

I can't pick any character, my internet is shit but I wanna play as Holliday against bots. :(

I stated that it doesn't work in customs in one of the lower sections of the guide. They don't give full cheat access so you need to use the manual custom game creation method shown in this guide. I can move the disclaimer to a more obvious location.
