Description
The N1000 Series (N1000形) is a third-rail subway vehicle operated by Nagoya Municipal Subway.

Manufactured from 2007 to 2015, the N1000 series is the newest generation of Higashiyama Line vehicles. It is the successor to the 5050 series and replaced the remaining 5000 series sets in operation. The main body is a stainless-steel type manufactured by Nippon Sharyo and is a predecessor of the company’s N-QUALIS platform. A redesigned front cab made of ordinary steel is attached to the leading cars, featuring sharper lines in contrast to the round shape of the 3050 series. To promote accessibility, the height difference between the train floor and the platform was reduced from 11cm to 5cm, and wheelchair spaces were expanded from 2 per set to 1 in every car. For the PID system, simplified station maps are now shown prior to arrival at each station, depicting the location of each car in relation to the platform. A total of 21 sets were produced in 6-car formations, totaling 126 cars. Most of the fleet have been modified for displays and announcements in 4 languages, but there are a few vehicles only supporting Japanese and English.
