Description
Modernisation has come to the Nottinghamshire coalfields, as British Railways has decided to test one of the new English Electric Type 1 diesels on freight traffic. In this scenario, you will be taking the controls of one on a train of coal empties from Colwick to Newstead Colliery via the ‘back way’. Once the line has cleared, you will proceed with your load up the line, watching the signals closely as you do so. Duration: about 30 minutes.

DLC Requirements:
Netherfield: Nottingham Network (Thompson B1, Stanier 8F, Robinson O4 and LMS 4F all come bundled with the route; ensure they are installed before trying to run this scenario)
Western Lines of Scotland
European Loco and Asset Pack
BR Class 20 (BR Green)

@pjohnandlyns That's a reference to one of the scenarios included in the LNER Q6 pack. Part of the scenario involves rescuing a broken-down DMU, which prompts the fireman to remark on the DMU's lack of reliability and confidently state that they'll never be a replacement for steam power. Consider it dramatic irony, as the scenario takes place in 1958 and the guard has no way of knowing that steam locomotives will all be gone in 10 years.

Hi H.S. Nicely done, ran very well with no problems. Some good AI's about and it looked darned cold out there.:steamhappy::steamthumbsup:
I think you were slightly wrong though about them not replacing Steam.:steammocking:

@chris This was, believe it or not, the first ever scenario I built for the Class 20 in green! I do enjoy playing about with lighting in scenarios (although the route doesn't seem to be compatible with the AP Sky and Weather pack for some reason). Ah well. Back to steam power for the next one.

Agreed these diesels will never catch on, although the Type 1s did manage OK. Usual high standard and another realistic run thank you HS. As you know I do love these early morning runs - the lighting was excellent. Bit guilty seeing the passengers stood on a cold winter's morning platforms, but I have had my fair share of freezing platforms in the early mornings! Kind Regards. Chris
