[HS]-Heading for Nottingham (Thompson B1)

In 1 collection by Highball Simulation
Netherfield Scenarios
6 items
Description
Nottingham Victoria was the terminating point of several passenger services arriving from Sheffield Victoria or Manchester London Road, and many passengers would transfer here to trains bound for destinations further south such as Leicester or Rugby. In the 1950s, Thompson B1s based at Annesley and Darnall were a common sight on these workings. In this scenario, you will take the controls of a B1 on the final stage of a Sheffield to Nottingham stopping service. Having been held near Annesley owing to a delayed passenger train, you will resume your journey to Nottingham Victoria once the signal clears. You will call at Hucknall Central, Bulwell Common, New Basford, and Nottingham Victoria. Duration: 25-30 minutes/

DLC Requirements:
Netherfield: Nottingham Network (Thompson B1, Stanier 8F, Robinson O4 and LMS 4F all come bundled with the route; ensure they are installed before trying to run this scenario)
Western Lines of Scotland
European Loco and Asset Pack

@Fairrosamund It's certainly interesting how dramatically the area has changed since the 1950s. I used to live in Nottingham (I was a student at the university) and became quite familiar with the tramway, which runs on part of the old GCR alignment.

A short but interesting scenario utilising the B1 locomotive.Just for the record Bulwell Common station is now a housing estate!!

@tonix Try deleting the scenario and redownloading.

this szenario don't shows up in my regular Netherfield: Nottingham Network (steam)
do you use any workshop route?

@chris I think then you'll approve of what's coming next-after this set of scenarios I'll be tackling the other major bit of the Great Central in the simulator.

'wasted potential' is very apt. If only it was up to the standard of Weardale or Riviera Line in 50s I think I would be visiting the line routinely.

@chris I was a regular at the Great Central Railway (heritage line) for many years, and still try to visit at least once a year. If I were to summarise the Netherfield route, it would be 'wasted potential'-the system is oddly short and the runs are strangely constrained. I can only wonder if it started life as a GCR route and got curtailed from there. Anyway, glad you enjoyed.

Agree with pjohnandlyns. Another realistic and enjoyable run, again on a route I rarely visit - on TS. I did use the bottom half of Great Central from the 1970s regularly travelling from either Amersham or more usually High Wycombe into Marylebone - unfortunately after the days of steam. Kind Regards. @pjohnandlyns The London Extension of the Great Central is a route close to my heart, and as a result I was keen to bring it to life in an interesting way. Having proper AI is also important as it helps to make scenarios interesting; the Black 5 passing on a passenger train was inspired by a photograph taken in the last months of GCR operation in 1966.

Nicely done, ran very well with problems. All timings were fine and easily achievable. Some good AI's running and stock in the sidings to add interest.:steamhappy::steamthumbsup:
