Nagoya Municipal Subway N3000 Series / 名古屋市交通局N3000形

The N3000 Series (N3000形) is a commuter EMU operated by Nagoya Municipal Subway.

Operating on the subway's Tsurumai Line, the N3000 series is a modern hybrid subway / suburban rail vehicle introduced in 2012. It was the first new type to the placed on the line for 18 years since the manufacturing of the 3050 series. Designed to comply with the ministerial ordinary on technical standards for railways, the N3000 series provides improved accessibility with wheelchair spaces available in every car. The prototype vehicle was manufactured by Hitachi using the aluminium A-train platform, while mass-produced cars were built by Nippon Sharyo with stainless steel bodies. Long seats are installed in all cars as typical of subway vehicles, and the floor incorporates motifs of local Arimatsu textiles. All sets exist as 6-car formations, with a total of 96 cars in service in 16 sets. Operationally, the N3000 series are used on the Tsurumai Line as well as through running services to the above-ground Toyota Line and Inuyama Line of Meitetsu. Through trains operate as far as Toyotashi Station and Inuyama Station.
