Description
The 600 Series (600形) is a light rail/tram vehicle operated by Keihan Electric Railway.

Built for Keihan's Otsu lines between 1984 and 1988, the 600 series is a 2-car vehicle made up of reconstructed former 300 and 260 series cars. Like several other Keihan types, the body was reused from older units, with updated equipment and interior installed. It is classified by the company as a newly constructed vehicle that replaced the originals, rather than a modification. The 600 series was installed with air conditioning, which necessitated a number of changes to the exterior body and windows. 20 cars in 10 vehicles were produced in total, and operated on both the Keishin Line and Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line. However, since through running with Kyoto Subway began, the 600 and 700 series have been restricted to the Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line. With the increase in electrification voltage on the Otsu network in 1993, the 600 series underwent several changes, the motors, running equipment, and brakes were all replaced and upgraded. As of current, all 10 vehicles are in service.
