In A3, you can change some of the AI's behavior depending on the weapon, and there is no way to tweak the AI of units other than having them act as medics or editing them in the editor, so it is more realistic to create units that use short bursts with rifles and long bursts with machine guns.

Yes, this mod is a simple mod that just modifies the AIBrain values provided in vanilla, so it is compatible with other AI mods.
This core version is fine for vanilla factions and mod factions because it will automatically adapt to them (because all AI brains use the same framework).
