There is a whole fleet available with the same building style and with multiple versions of ships for a seamless progression through building materials/ tech levels.
All of them feature funktional docking ports , flashing positional lights, beautified visible thrusters and templates for all the turrets.
They are meant to grow with you through the progression of the game without the need to resize the ships.
They are heavily inspired by 17th to 19th century sailing warhips with their classifications and some building details like stern gallaries with decorated nameplates. All of them feature a centerline main armament for ther widest possible firing arcs.

All ships have 2 versions , one base model with loads of Framework and/or Scaffold blocks for conversion into whatever upgrade or modification is desired, and a preupgraded version with more subsystem slots and the next highest building material used. Most of those have a feature that was not included in the base version because of building material restrictions.
For example the starter military ship ,the 3 slot Ajax corvette is fully built from iron. the upgraded Version has 4 slots and features a structural integrity field and generators. The next ship , the Frigate Acheron has shields and its upgraded version also features a small hangar. The next ship features Coaxial mounts and so on.
