I think if you capture the enemy HQ in a battle, you essentially have gained the ground. I was thinking that at least should more than 1 star.
I have to believe the developers must have originally intended for the victory levels to remove a subsequent star (i.e. Minor Victory removes 1 Star, Victory removes 2 Stars, Major Victory removes 3 Stars, and a Sweeping Victory removes 4 Stars). Like if you capture all the points and the enemy Command Trench or the enemy surrenders, where are they reinforcing from? Why Petroglyph went with a system of having to get multiple Sweeping Victories just to take over a single hex is beyond me.
Maybe to try and hide the limited number of maps? Or are most players just that bad at defending and needed a handicap?
