Okay, so I encountered the issue with random darkness spreading on the screen for a few times now and found a couple of ways to fix it:

First and foremost least painful way to fix it is go to options and change your resolution to the lower one, save, and then change it back. For potentially better results, try setting the resolution to the lowest possible value.
The second method is a bit trickier, as it involves dying in the game. However, there's no guarantee it will work.
The last one that definitely works for sure is restarting the game, but you'll lose all of your progress since the last save, and you'll start at the last endpoint so it's a bit of a pain in the butt.

It can be fixed by turning off ray tracing reflections usually. It seems like that's what broke.

No, not really. It just pops up randomly. Since I played almost a year ago and you're having the same problems now, it doesn't look like it's a patch or driver issue.

Is there any pattern with which you noticed this issue appearing?
Is it exclusive to the new patch? DirectX 11 or DirectX 12?
