I added this addon to the collection. Just for you!
They did change the pace of the game, alright: by making it very slightly more annoying to deal with her, before you move on.
In fresh-install lobbies, she may or may not kill someone. At anywhere else, she's worth a medkit or some pills.
In Versus, she rarely impacts gameplay in high-level (like in comp or sweaty pub servers), unless spawned at incredibly specific spots.
Personally, I just think it's a flawed game design as a result of the game's lifespan, like TF2's Sniper class.
