Description
no, the thumbnail is not lying to you (besides it being rotated 90 degrees, since you don't battle in antartica)

this is just a normal (very large) Landcruisers/Pilotable Planes map, except you can zoom out infinitely and see the whole earth as well, and maybe some other stuff above and below, why not?

Is this actually the entire planet?
yes, the scales are correct as well, using the forts scaling system:
100 units (2 grid squares) = 1 meter
the diameter of the sphere is 1,276,273,920 units
the diameter of earth is around 12,760 kilometers
you do the math!

but not all of that is playable area, of course, everything would not only take ages to reach the other side but break down due to floating points, but you still get 2,000,000 units (20km) of playable area, probably larger than any landcruisers map, plus you have a few extra 398,000,000 units if you're fine with going out of bounds!

don't worry about still taking ages to traverse the map though, although 20km is still a lot, there's a convenient flat highway encompassing around half the travel distance, allowing you to go very fast if you wish to, just make sure to brake in time!

How do you do this?
since map sizes were clamped a while ago, i downloaded an older version of forts, so if you're thinking about making a map infinitely large like this, you can't really do that if you don't have an old version downloaded, you'll have to tinker with "steam depots" to figure that out
(however, to color the ground this well i used the console commands "\set_ground_texture ui/textures/FE-Panel" to set the texture to a white one and "\set_ground_color r g b a" to add some color, so you can still use those for your maps)

Recommendations
Landcruisers or Pilotable Planes highly recommended. if you don't have LC you'll be able to place foundations on normal ground and projectiles will be much much faster to compensate (this doesn't work in sandbox so foundations are always placeable there and projectiles won't speed up), otherwise it might be impossible to make any progress
it still takes around 2 minutes for the fastest plane in pilotable planes to make it all the way, so it's recommended to still use landcruisers since there's a checkpoint in the middle of the map

that is basically another way of saying artifacting, but it does take a while to reach it

Also, what is a floating point?

I have a question, wouldnt the map just get artifacted (Whenever you go so far out the rendering and physics begin to break down) ?

i'm planning to make it so part of the map is more like a "highway" sort of thing where the ground is perfectly flat, so you can speedrun through a lot of the map as long as you can brake fast enough for when you get back to the rough land, sounds fun?

Insane. I built a 137 km/h tank and drove to the enemy base in 10 minutes. If I had gone to the left side, I would have spent 15 days. We need a map with a much smaller diameter.
