Eli Dang's Holo HUD

Description
This is a holographic, in world hud for your ship, Tribute to one of the best space trucker HUDs of all time, made to fill the holo hole in our hearts.

Eli Dang's Holo HUD will display on any grid you have a working Radio Antenna installed. Simply open your terminal at the cockpit of your choice and flag it as Main Cockpit. You can then scroll down and adjust the offset/scale/color of the HUD.

Update: 06-20-2024
Removed visual extras in preparation to include them in another mod.
Rewrote the settings handling so as to sync with server. (This needs further testing! Please give feedback!)

Included Extras:
  • Orbital lines of celestial bodies when the ship is at speed. Set this value in your cockpit terminal. For added customization, you can adjust the orbital lines to center on coordinates (such as a gas giant or 'real' sun) in the config file that gets created. By default will attempt to estimate the sun's location in the skybox.
  • Distant grids highlight with little flares. They're very subtle but they're helpful for spotting things in the void.
  • The helmet visor now has a simple animation in first person when toggling.
  • Little dust particles in the cockpit. I like them

Configuration File:
The config file can be found at
Storage/EliDangHUD_EliDangHUD/EDHH_settings.xml

// How thick you want orbital lines to be. Be careful. Can look really silly if modified. <lineThickness>1.5</lineThickness> // Adjusts the number of segments that make up cricles. Lower this for better performance at the cost of polygonal circles. <lineDetail>90</lineDetail> // World Space Coordinates of whatever your system center is. By default, will follow the skybox 'sun'. <starPos> <X>0</X> <Y>0</Y> <Z>0</Z> </starPos> // Disable this to use the above coordinates. <starFollowSky>true</starFollowSky> // Enables the little dust particles in the cockpit. I like them, but you don't have to. <enableCockpitDust>true</enableCockpitDust> // Enables the grid flare effect of distant ships/stations. <enableGridFlares>true</enableGridFlares> // Enables the graphic effect of opening/closing your helmet. <enableVisor>true</enableVisor> // Set this to the maximum meters you want the radar to render. Low values are unstable. Default is -1, which will extend to draw distance. Highly recommended. <radarRange>-1</radarRange>

Follow the greens on the way out, commander.

I'm working on an update/overhaul for this mod that fixes the optimization issues and adds a few of the requested features (including my own requests from way back haha). I'm interpreting the blurb that Cherub made at the end as this mod being GPL, so when I upload I'll be putting it on GitHub under GPL 3.0 as well. Hopefully Cherub will be interested and could contribute as they have time too.
It's probably two+ weeks out at this point, but I really want to get it into people's hands.
